Montella

What it does

A privacy-first project manager in every new tab. Nest projects inside each other for the big picture. Link one task to multiple projects. Switch between kanban and list views. All your data stays in your browser — no accounts, no servers, no tracking. Export everything as JSON with one click. Your life is a project. Finally plan it like one.

Montella is a Chrome extension that turns every new tab into a Kanban board with nested projects, local-first privacy, and one-click backups.

Montella is a free, lightweight Kanban board that lives in your new tab, so you can organize tasks, track progress, and move work forward without digging through apps. It works entirely offline — your data stays in your browser, private and under your control. From career goals to grocery lists — Montella treats every part of your life as worth organizing. Create separate projects for work, home, health, and hobbies, each with their own board. Projects within projects. See today's tasks or your 5-year plan — same board, different altitude. Drag and drop to reorganize your project hierarchy at any time. That "Learn Spanish" task? It belongs to both "Career Growth" and "Travel Plans".…from montella.bxt.org

TL;DR: We built Kanbanq, a minimal task management app for indies and small teams. It keeps Trello’s simplicity but adds proper backlogs, sprints, real-time collaboration and public board sharing. Free while in alpha, feedback welcome --- I’ve been working on Kanbanq with a friend. It’s a minimal task management app we built after getting frustrated with Trello. It was great for simple boards, but it falls apart when you need backlogs (that are more than just a giant list) or want to work in sprints. Kanbanq keeps the same clean feel but adds backlog management (our unique feature), sprints,…

  Talanoa▲340

Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…

isometric.nyc – giant isometric pixel art map of NYC▲1,325

Hey HN! I wanted to share something I built over the last few weeks: isometric.nyc is a massive isometric pixel art map of NYC, built with nano banana and coding agents. I didn't write a single line of code. Of course no-code doesn't mean no-engineering. This project took a lot more manual labor than I'd hoped! I wrote a deep dive on the workflow and some thoughts about the future of AI coding and creativity: http://cannoneyed.com/projects/isometric-nyc
