Mungr

HIPAA-compliant data cleaning that never leaves your device

What it does

Mungr is a privacy-first, WebAssembly-powered tool designed for analysts in healthcare, finance, and legal sectors. Clean, mask, and redact sensitive PII/PHI locally without uploading a single byte to any server. - It can process 10M+ rows instantly using DuckDB. - Auto-flag PII based on HIPAA Safe Harbor rules. - Share 'Cleaning Recipes' (JSON) without sharing actual data. - Zero install, zero friction, just drag, drop, and secure your data.

Clean huge files in your browser with WebAssembly. No uploads, no servers. Your data never leaves your device.

Mungr is a data cleaning and preparation tool that runs a real analytical database (DuckDB, compiled to WebAssembly) locally in your browser. You can munge, wrangle, and tidy millions of rows of CSV data without uploading, installing, or waiting on IT. Every path fails a different way. And if you're in healthcare, finance, or legal, the cost isn't just frustration. It's a compliance violation. What if cleaning your data never required uploading it in the first place? DuckDB compiled to WebAssembly is a real analytical database engine running locally in your browser, not a JavaScript parsing hack. Processing happens entirely client-side. Hello HN! I found that picking out plausible but diverse skin tones for my digital art and game development projects was kind of difficult, and I got curious about if there was a way to define a color space that made it easy. I've built a color picker and procedural generation algorithm based on the space as well as a bunch of other fun js features and demos throughout the page that use the equations. If you find it interesting, I have lots of explanations of how I built it and what properties the space has. The methodology might be a bit shaky, but hopefully the result is as helpful for…

  • I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it. Happy to answer questions about the model, training, Core ML, or the many things that didn't work.
