Music Mini Games

I've just released an iOS app that contains a few simple music games. I hope to add more in the future, and to improve the existing games. Over the long run I hope I'm able to build experiences that are both fun and help you become a better musician. It's rough around the edges, and very early, but feedback and feature requests are still welcome. On the marketing page I have an email list and a way to contact me, so I'd love thoughts. No login, no subscription, no network required, no analytics, 5 MB binary iOS link:…

What it does

Music Mini Games is an app to help you sharpen your musical skills while having fun and competing on the leaderboards. No ads, no subscription (maybe one day?), no required login (though I use Game Center for leaderboards, so better if you sign in). Hopefully I will be adding more games and features over time. It's helped me learn to sing a bit better I think, so hopefully it can help you, too!

In the maker’s words, at launch

Hi HN! I previously launched the first version of this iOS app, but in particular, I think I made the singing game (strike a chord) too difficult. Anyway, I started this app as a place for me to publish, well, music mini games. It's very early days still, but I'm hoping you'll find the games to be useful and…

  • I made a memory game to teach you to play piano by earJan 2026 · lend-me-your-ears.specr.net · ▲565

“Lend Me Your Ears” is an interactive web-based game inspired by the classic Simon toy (originally by Milton Bradley). It presents players with a sequence of musical notes and challenges them to reproduce the sequence using either an on-screen piano or a connected MIDI keyboard. Each correct response leads to a progressively more difficult sequence, testing the player’s concentration, memory, and pitch recognition. The game features two modes: - Simon Mode (focuses on auditory recall) - Practice Mode (displays standard sheet music notation to support learning) The game also includes options…

  • My iOS app to practice sight reading (10 years in the App Store)2025 · apps.apple.com · ▲313

Hello HN, this has been my personal project for quite some time now. It has been a slowly evolving project over the years and its core function is for users to expose themselves to progressively more difficult lessons of music notes. NOTE: It is free and there are no ads. There is an in app purchase but most of the app doesn't require it.

    Perfect Pitch Puzzle – a musical Wordle daily ear training game2023 · perfectpitchpuzzle.com · ▲225

Hi all! Thanks for checking out the side project my family and I have been working on (on and off) for the past year. We were playing wordle when we thought: wouldn't it be fun if you had to guess musical notes (ABCDEFG) instead of words? And what if the notes you had to guess were actually the first six notes of a familiar melody? My brother and I both have perfect pitch, which has been really helpful when we want to cover a song that we like, or improvise in a jazz or blue grass setting. We don’t promise that this game will help you gain perfect pitch, but it is possible to train your ear…

  • Cadence – A guitar theory app2025 · cadenceguitar.com · ▲195

Hello HN, I just released this music theory and ear training mobile app for guitar which I've been working on for a bit more than a year on the side. The idea was to make something for the eternally "intermediate" guitarist (myself included). There are a lot of beginner apps which rely on learning songs, toolkits which give you a bunch of stuff with no explanation but not many in-between apps to actually learn and practice more generic and somewhat advanced stuff. The app contains short lessons, recaps and most importantly challenges (visual, audio and pure theory) along with a very complete…

  • Muky2024 · muky.app · ▲200

Hi, I've developed an iOS app called Muky (https://muky.app/) that allows parents to create and manage music playlists for their children. It provides a focused, distraction-free audio experience for kids. I created this app because my 4-year-old daughter loves music, but existing solutions like Tonies or cassettes didn't meet our needs. Using an iPhone or iPad directly with Apple Music wasn't ideal either. Muky aims to solve these issues under the motto "Music for the Kids". Here some key features: * Dedicated music player for children * Parent-controlled playlists *…

  • Practice all the songs you know on your musical instrument2023 · github.com · ▲19

I built this app because I realized that I forgot about a song for a while and therefore got a lot worse at that song. The app will make you play your lowest-proficiency songs (something you just started learning) daily. Medium-proficiency songs (you can play them, but you have room for improvement) get played several times a week. High-proficiency songs (you have mastered them) are cycled through at the rate of approximately one-two per day. This app is in no way complete and probably contains bugs. With that being said, I have been daily-driving it in its current state for several days…
