24 alternatives to Music Mini Games
I've just released an iOS app that contains a few simple music games. I hope to add more in the future, and to improve the existing games. Over the long run I hope I'm able to build experiences that are both fun and help you become a better musician. It's rough around the edges, and very early, but feedback and feature requests are still welcome. On the marketing page I have an email list and a way to contact me, so I'd love thoughts. No login, no subscription, no network required, no analytics, 5 MB binary iOS link:…

“Lend Me Your Ears” is an interactive web-based game inspired by the classic Simon toy (originally by Milton Bradley). It presents players with a sequence of musical notes and challenges them to reproduce the sequence using either an on-screen piano or a connected MIDI keyboard. Each correct response leads to a progressively more difficult sequence, testing the player’s concentration, memory, and pitch recognition. The game features two modes: - Simon Mode (focuses on auditory recall) - Practice Mode (displays standard sheet music notation to support learning) The game also includes options…

Hello HN, this has been my personal project for quite some time now. It has been a slowly evolving project over the years and its core function is for users to expose themselves to progressively more difficult lessons of music notes. NOTE: It is free and there are no ads. There is an in app purchase but most of the app doesn't require it.

Hi all! Thanks for checking out the side project my family and I have been working on (on and off) for the past year. We were playing wordle when we thought: wouldn't it be fun if you had to guess musical notes (ABCDEFG) instead of words? And what if the notes you had to guess were actually the first six notes of a familiar melody? My brother and I both have perfect pitch, which has been really helpful when we want to cover a song that we like, or improvise in a jazz or blue grass setting. We don’t promise that this game will help you gain perfect pitch, but it is possible to train your ear…

Hello HN, I just released this music theory and ear training mobile app for guitar which I've been working on for a bit more than a year on the side. The idea was to make something for the eternally "intermediate" guitarist (myself included). There are a lot of beginner apps which rely on learning songs, toolkits which give you a bunch of stuff with no explanation but not many in-between apps to actually learn and practice more generic and somewhat advanced stuff. The app contains short lessons, recaps and most importantly challenges (visual, audio and pure theory) along with a very complete…

Muky▲200Hi, I've developed an iOS app called Muky (https://muky.app/) that allows parents to create and manage music playlists for their children. It provides a focused, distraction-free audio experience for kids. I created this app because my 4-year-old daughter loves music, but existing solutions like Tonies or cassettes didn't meet our needs. Using an iPhone or iPad directly with Apple Music wasn't ideal either. Muky aims to solve these issues under the motto "Music for the Kids". Here some key features: * Dedicated music player for children * Parent-controlled playlists *…

Hey guys I've been playing the guitar for many years but I felt like I had hit a wall and wasnt making progress. One of the things I realized was holding me back was unfamiliarity with the fretboard. I'd often find myself in situations like “Uhh…Where’s the C# here?” “Where’s the flat-3rd of this root on the 4th string?” “Sure would be nice to know the closest min7 triad shape to play over here..” I tried memorizing the fretboard the obvious way but it extreeemly boring for me. Being a developer, I decided to turn it into a game. I'd love for you guys to try it out and let me know what you…

I built this app because I realized that I forgot about a song for a while and therefore got a lot worse at that song. The app will make you play your lowest-proficiency songs (something you just started learning) daily. Medium-proficiency songs (you can play them, but you have room for improvement) get played several times a week. High-proficiency songs (you have mastered them) are cycled through at the rate of approximately one-two per day. This app is in no way complete and probably contains bugs. With that being said, I have been daily-driving it in its current state for several days…

I am a software developer and in the last few months after recently becoming a father I was barely finding time for a proper workout. Recently I was reading about new research on Snack Exercises and how beneficial mini workouts of less than 2mins every so often, during the day are to our body. So, I decided to build an iOS App for me and others to help with this. The app generates a list of exercises that I need to tick to complete daily or loose my streak. The algorithm takes into account muscle groups and balancing the exercises to hit most main muscles. I also stayed going through all…

I'm an indie developer making iOS games. My guitar app, Tiny Guitar, has reached 1 million DLs after about 14 months on the App Store. Check it out here: https://itunes.apple.com/app/id504720445 It reached 128K weekly active users this March, and is currently hovering at around 100K weekly actives. http://i.imgur.com/Z4Zha73.png I'm anxiously waiting for the new Nexus 7 to get released, so I can explore porting some of my apps over to Android. You may have seen me post about my piano app in the past:…

Hi HN, I've been taking guitar lessons and one thing that is recommended to most musicians is ear training - where two different notes are played and you must identify the number of steps between the notes. My app, Earbuilder, should help with that process. You can find it here: http://www.earbuilder.com/ It's my first web app, and my first real foray into JavaScript. You can take a look at the source and you'll see that it's pretty poorly structured, but I've picked up a book and hopefully things will improve with my second web application. Please let me know if you have any comments,…
