I really like Stellarium and SkySafari but I felt like these are primarily geared towards exploring the sky but not so much "here are the long list of things I want to see, when can I see them tonight and where". There's also not really a great option I've found that combines sky object planning + location weather details while still being free so I built this. The UI's heavily inspired by NINAs sky atlas + Robinhood. Right now you can: View the altitude chart of objects and 3D view Create lists of objects of interest View the annual max/min daily altitude of an object to find the best…
- SEStellarSnap – Explore NASA APODs, simulate orbits, learn astronomy2025 · stellarsnap.space · ▲27
I built StellarSnap as a calm, ad-free space to explore NASA’s Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) and learn astronomy along the way. What it includes: - A clean APOD archive browser with a Random APOD button - A growing Glossary with term highlighting across the site - A 2D Orbit Simulator where you can test satellite motion with real physics - A deeper Encyclopedia, still early, but expanding - Subtle touches like “see past APODs using this term” - And more to come It’s entirely ad-free, cookie-free, and not affiliated with NASA, but I was honored to have StellarSnap mentioned on the…
Meteor shower, planet alignment, eclipse kit25d ago · lifesprites.com · ▲11I made this little walkthrough for finding the visible planets tonight and a meteor shower shooting start counter. Plus a little model of the solar system to try to wrap my head around what's going on. It's all based on your location if you provide it. lifesprites.com/solar.html doesn't require account creation. The rest does. It's free, but you need an account.
- DADailySpace, Android app for exploring space photos and rocket launchesJan 2026 · play.google.com · ▲7
Hi HN, I’ve always been fascinated by space and how much is happening beyond what we usually see day to day. I wanted a simple way to explore space photography and learn what I was actually looking at, without jumping between lots of different sites or long articles. So I built DailySpace, an Android app for exploring a large collection of space photos with short and clear explanations. You can browse thousands of images of galaxies, nebulae, planets, stars, black holes, Earth, and different NASA missions organized into categories or found through search. As I kept using it myself, I added…

- H6Homebrew 6.0.0▲1,481
Today, I’m proud to announce Homebrew 6.0.0. The most significant changes since 5.1.0 are a new tap trust security mechanism, the new faster, smaller, default internal Homebrew JSON API, sandboxing on Linux, better defaults informed by our user survey, many brew bundle improvements, improved performance and initial support for macOS 27 (Golden Gate). Happy to discuss any questions here!
