What it does

Tell us what you speak. We'll rank 96 world languages by how easy each one will be for you to learn next — scored across lexical overlap, grammatical distance, phonological similarity, writing system, and language family, with adjustable weights. Free. No signup. No ads. The full linguistic dataset is published openly as a single JSON file. Built for polyglots, students, linguistically curious travellers, and anyone who's ever wondered "what should I learn next?".

Particularly handy for sanity-checking the cousins — try German ↔ Yiddish, Polish ↔ Czech, Spanish ↔ Portuguese, or Norwegian ↔ Swedish. Translation powered by MyMemory (free community translation memory). Pronunciation uses your browser's built-in speech synthesis. Neither service sends data to MyNextLanguage; both operate purely in your browser. Each node is one of the 96 languages in our dataset. • Today, I’m proud to announce Homebrew 6.0.0. The most significant changes since 5.1.0 are a new tap trust security mechanism, the new faster, smaller, default internal Homebrew JSON API, sandboxing on Linux, better defaults informed by our user survey, many brew bundle improvements, improved performance and initial support for macOS 27 (Golden Gate). Happy to discuss any questions here!

  • Hi HN! I was super frustrated at apps like tiktok and wechat preventing me from saving or downloading the animated gifs, so I made a little tool to turn a screen recording into a slack-sized emoji. Hope you get some value from this!
