Hi HN, I've been tinkering/building AI applications that require interaction with spreadsheets (Excel / Google Sheets). Realized that LLMs don't work off-the-shelf when it comes to producing correct, reliable output for spreadsheets, regardless of how you wish to encode it (JSON, markdown, XML, etc.) After prompting, fine-tuning LLMs to work for my applications, decided to expose the functionality as an API to this community. I was the main contributor to workout.lol, an open-source fitness app to easily build a workout routine. The project had traction (1.4k GitHub stars, 95 forks, ~20K visits/month), but was eventually sold due to video licensing hurdles. The new owner stopped maintaining it, and the repo went abandoned.
