NEP – Ethereum JSON-RPC transform that beats ZSTD by 12%
Structured encoding layer for Ethereum JSON-RPC data — improves zstd compression by 12–21% - Louw115/nep-ethereum-compression
NEP – Ethereum JSON-RPC transform that beats ZSTD by 12% launched on June 6, 2026 with 6 votes, #2,066 of 22,647 launches that month and more than 75% of that year's launches.
What it does
Tested on real Ethereum mainnet blocks fetched live from a public RPC endpoint. No pre-built datasets. nep_blocks_demo.py rebuilds the NEP pipeline using 5 composable primitives from the NeuropBlocks library. No custom encoder — just blocks composed together. Run it yourself (requires only zstandard ): pip install zstandard python nep_blocks_demo.py Results on 20 real mainnet blocks (4,990 transactions), trained on 480 separate blocks: Method vs zstd-22 Blocks won Plain zstd-22 baseline — NeuropBlocks + zstd-22 +3.91% 19/20 NeuropBlocks + dict + zstd-22 +5.14% (incl. 112KB dict) 20/20 Output verified on Windows 10, Python 3.11: Plain zstd-22 (baseline): 1,510,287 bytes NeuropBlocks +…from github.com

Open-source code for a private, infinitely scalable, PQ-secure L1 layerFeb 2026 · github.com · ▲7For the past few months, I’ve been working on a new Layer 1 blockchain designed to solve what I see as the fundamental trilemma in the space: achieving strong privacy, infinite scalability, and post-quantum security simultaneously. The result is NERV: a private-by-default, horizontally scalable blockchain that replaces Merkle trees with 512-byte neural state embeddings, proven inside Halo2 circuits and attested in hardware enclaves. Key technical innovations: Neural State Embeddings Instead of Merkle trees, the entire state of a shard is compressed into a 512-byte vector using a transformer…

Searchable compression for JSON – ~99% page skip and sub-ms lookups2025 · github.com · ▲15Problem JSON/NDJSON is everywhere in data platforms, but compression usually breaks searchability. You either keep queryable raw stores (high I/O/egress) or compress into gz/zstd blobs (cheap to store, painful to probe). The “cloud tax” shows up as wasted reads. What I built (SEE — Semantic Entropy Encoding) A schema-aware, searchable compression codec for JSON that keeps exists/pos lookups fast while still compressing. Internals: structure-aware delta + dictionaries, a PageDir + mini-index to jump to relevant pages, and a tuned Bloom filter that skips ~99% of pages.…

Homebrew 6.0.0▲1,481Today, I’m proud to announce Homebrew 6.0.0. The most significant changes since 5.1.0 are a new tap trust security mechanism, the new faster, smaller, default internal Homebrew JSON API, sandboxing on Linux, better defaults informed by our user survey, many brew bundle improvements, improved performance and initial support for macOS 27 (Golden Gate). Happy to discuss any questions here!

Hi HN! I was super frustrated at apps like tiktok and wechat preventing me from saving or downloading the animated gifs, so I made a little tool to turn a screen recording into a slack-sized emoji. Hope you get some value from this!
