What it does
NERDY turns the thing people already love about streaks into something you actually have to earn. Instead of tapping a button to keep a fitness streak alive, NERDY uses your phone’s camera to count and verify your reps in real time. Squats, push-ups, planks and more become measurable daily challenges — no gym, no equipment, and no manual logging. Our launch is about making fitness feel less like “I should work out” and more like “I can't break my streak.”

I've been working on a side project called Streak.ly with a friend of mine for the past month or so; it's intended to help keep you motivated to do otherwise mundane daily tasks (like do 10 pushups, read for an hour, etc.) by letting you log "streaks" — consecutive days in a row of doing something. I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it. Happy to answer questions about the model, training, Core ML, or the many things that didn't work.

I found that picking out plausible but diverse skin tones for my digital art and game development projects was kind of difficult, and I got curious about if there was a way to define a color space that made it easy.
