New flightlite.com release based on super HN feedback

Two weeks ago I posted a link to my side project (http://flightlite.com) and got some great feedback from HNers. I've spent a lot of time tweaking and improving based on that and I'm really happy with the result - it's much more usable and useful now! What's better: - reduced complexity of the main tracking page based on feedback from #veb - new search functionality (auto-completion, blended all search types into one search box) - thanks #robyates for your input - failover to large Google Maps view if Google Earth isn't installed with prompt and link to install from - added a proper 404 page…

What it does

In the maker’s words, at launch

Two weeks ago I posted a link to my side project (http://flightlite.com) and got some great feedback from HNers. I've spent a lot of time tweaking and improving based on that and I'm really happy with the result - it's much more usable and useful now! What's better: - reduced complexity of the main tracking page based on feedback from #veb - new search functionality (auto-completion, blended all search types into one search box) - thanks #robyates for your input - failover to large Google Maps view if Google Earth isn't installed with prompt and link to install from - added a proper 404 page instead of just dying (ungracefully) - trimmed anything I could get rid of without losing the core functionality - new logo courtesy of a friend - better titles/metadata and a sitemap for the search bots - added arrivals/departure boards for airports I hope you approve (and have even more feedback!).

Does the same job

    My new flight tracker, flightlite.com2010 · ▲11

http://flightlite.com Flightlite is a visual flight tracker combining 3D and overhead views and flight information. It is my first launch since I started reading Hacker News and was developed as a side project for the past 6 months or so. I made the final push on it this morning to get it to a semi-launchable state. - The best coverage is US and UK - Sometimes the data I get is a bit crazy (spent a lot of effort to correct/sanitise it but it's not perfect) - Doesn't work in IE 64bit or Linux due to Google Earth not being available I'm now trying to work out how to take this further, if there…

New OpenLoopz Landing Page Based on HN Feedback2015 · ▲28

Hi everyone, This is the new landing page for OpenLoopz: https://openloopz.com/welcome It’s based on the excellent feedback I received from the original post. I know it’s far from perfect and there is still a lot of material I haven’t had time to add yet, but it’s a start. I plan to iterate and improve on this over time as I learn more about marketing and promotion. I hope it gets the message across about what OpenLoopz is and why you might want to use it! I will be adding more pages soon, such as testimonials, pricing info, FAQ, use cases, etc, and more detail in general.…

    Jig – a tool to define, compute and monitor metrics2021 · jigdev.com · ▲74

Hi HN, 8 months ago, I posted “Ask HN: I built it nobody came, what now?” and got a ton of (not very optimistic) feedback [1]. I took away 3 things: 1. The message wasn’t properly targeted 2. The onboarding experience was terrible. 3. Someone posted some advice to find leads which actually worked, yeah! So here we are. 8 months later. I unfortunately didn’t have a lot of time to put in the tool itself. But I improved the website, improved the onboarding, and got a paying customer who seems to really like the software. So here it is in its current form. Let me know what you think would make…

We built an AI Website builder with better output2024 · dorik.com · ▲8

Hey HN, After GPT-3 created waves in the tech industry, a lot of AI tools were emerging and with that, some AI website builders But the results seemed way too generic to us. It felt like the developers were rushing to catch the wave instead of building a proper tool We took our time, did months of RnD and finally came up with something better than what others in the market are doing. It’s got better design output. While it’s still in beta, I wanted to show HN what we did. Will appreciate the feedback when you guys try it out. Here is the link to signup for the beta:…

My side project that searches the web for technologies2011 · ▲22

Hello HN! I've been working on http://underthesite.com for the last month and now think it is ready for some full strength HN feedback. What do you guys think? It crawls up to 10 pages of a given site while you wait, looking for community-provided CSS / XPath selectors and regular expressions. Additionally, I'd like to appeal to you to submit matchers for technologies that you care about. Technologies are easy to add, so add your favorite jQuery plugins, analytics tools, client-side node.js wrappers, what have you. I'm going to be running a large crawl in the next few days and want to make…
