NightForge
A self-implementing AI agent that fills its own feature gaps
NightForge launched on June 8, 2026 with 2 votes.
What it does
NightForge is an experimental, open-source AI agent designed to implement its own agentic feature set autonomously. Built for developers who want to explore autonomous agentic workflow and contribute to self-building software.

A minimal AI agent that writes most of its own implementation. You start it with a tiny seed; it spends "dev mode" reading state-of-the-art knowledge about agent design and components that the agent must have. It edits its own code until it's a competent agentic system. Then it switches to production and does whatever you set it to — optionally still improving itself along the way. Started Python reference implementation ( py-1/ ). No testing. I will do minimal testing when I can find the time or tokens for that. Help wanted: Testing help and contributions are welcome. InsForgeMar 2026 · insforge.dev · ▲622We built InsForge because we wanted to use pure prompts to build a production-grade app faster. In practice, AI isn’t reliable enough when generating code or configuring backend pieces like schema, RLS, auth, or functions. Postgres MCP and Supabase MCP are a good starting point, but they felt more like API wrappers for agents than something designed to guide AI safely through backend tasks. So we built our own MCP server on top of Postgres and added a set of context-engineering tools to make prompt-driven workflows more predictable. It gradually turned into a Postgres-based BaaS. Key…

InsForge – Open-source Heroku for coding agentsMay 2026 · github.com · ▲62Hi HN, I'm Hang, cofounder of InsForge (YC P26). InsForge is an open-source Heroku for AI coding agents: a backend platform designed for coding agents to deploy, operate, and debug end-to-end. Open source under Apache 2.0 (https://github.com/InsForge/InsForge). Quick demo here (https://youtu.be/7Bax5qz0IfM). We started InsForge because we just wanted our Claude Code to handle all the backend / infra stuff for us, instead of us jumping between dashboards doing manual config, or copy paste logs and docs back to agents. We first tried creating a folder…

- NTNightwatch, The open-source, read-only AI SREJun 2026 · ▲33
nightwatch is a local-first, read-only layer on top of your monitoring. it groups alert storm into incidents, flags noisy checks and has an agent that can investigate for you live systems. You can e.g. jump from the incident into the agent directly. the reason for this weekend project is that we had a kubernetes upgrade that went wrong, and at some point a rollback wasn't possible anymore, so it had to be fixed live during the night while several problems came together. We run a lot of different systems, on-prem and several Kubernetes clusters, and in a situation like that you spend most of…

Homebrew 6.0.0▲1,481Today, I’m proud to announce Homebrew 6.0.0. The most significant changes since 5.1.0 are a new tap trust security mechanism, the new faster, smaller, default internal Homebrew JSON API, sandboxing on Linux, better defaults informed by our user survey, many brew bundle improvements, improved performance and initial support for macOS 27 (Golden Gate). Happy to discuss any questions here!

Hi HN! I was super frustrated at apps like tiktok and wechat preventing me from saving or downloading the animated gifs, so I made a little tool to turn a screen recording into a slack-sized emoji. Hope you get some value from this!
