What it does
Keep your screen awake and prevent screen sleep with a free online tool. No download, no signup, and works directly in your browser.
Free, instant, no download. One tap and your display stays on for as long as you need. Keep this tab visible — browsers pause wake locks on hidden or minimized tabs. Every operating system turns the screen off after a few idle minutes to save power. That's helpful — except when you're presenting, reading, monitoring a process or following a recipe. NoScreenSleep uses your browser's Screen Wake Lock API to tell the OS “this screen needs to stay on” — no settings changed, no software installed, nothing to undo afterwards. When you're done, tap stop or let the timer release the lock for you. Your device returns to its normal behavior the moment you do. Pick Forever, 1 hour or a custom time.…from noscreensleep.com

There's often times I want to prevent a computer/laptop/VM from sleeping and while, yes, there's various Caffeine/Amphetamine apps they're often overkill. Instead, this small (12Kb) page does the job and only needs a web browser. It's just a very simple usage of a web api normally used for things like video players: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/Screen_Wake...

Stay Awake2025 · pranavarya37.github.io · ▲8Hey I'm Pranav, and I'm excited to launch Stay Awake! Ever step away for a quick coffee or chat, only to come back to a locked screen and your Teams/Slack status showing 'Away'? Annoying, right? Changing system sleep settings constantly is a pain. That's why I built Stay Awake! It's a super simple web app with one main goal: Keep your computer awake temporarily without changing any system settings. How? Just keep the Stay Awake browser tab open and active in the foreground. The app uses the browser's built-in features (Screen Wake Lock API or fallbacks) to signal to your OS that you're…

Clipto MCP▲655Hey HN, We recently built Clipto. It’s a tool that lets you search over terabytes of video, audio, and images on your computer, without relying on the cloud. Motivation: we probably all had this similar experience, we know a moment exists in a video or audio, but finding it takes hours scrubbing the timeline. You can send all the media to process in the cloud, but it’s slow, expensive and raises privacy concerns. So we decided to build our own on-device media search engine. How it works (high level): 1. We ingest video, audio, image; normalize formats via ffmpeg; run content analysis to…

Hello HN! I found that picking out plausible but diverse skin tones for my digital art and game development projects was kind of difficult, and I got curious about if there was a way to define a color space that made it easy. I've built a color picker and procedural generation algorithm based on the space as well as a bunch of other fun js features and demos throughout the page that use the equations. If you find it interesting, I have lots of explanations of how I built it and what properties the space has. The methodology might be a bit shaky, but hopefully the result is as helpful for…
