notifi
Send simple push notifications to your Mac using HTTP.
notifi launched on March 18, 2017 with 5 votes. The site was still online in September 2026, 9 years on.
What it does
notifi is a simple app that presents notifications to your Mac from simple http requests (e.g. with curl). This is a very useful tool to be integrated into any number of scenarios as a method of programmatically sending notifications based on the occurrence of events.
Push notifications for iOS and macOS from one HTTP request. No account, open source, and encrypted so neither we nor Apple can read them.
Install the free app, copy your key, send an HTTP request to notifi.it/send . Replace nk_yourkeyhere with the key from the app . More fields in the API docs . JSON or form-encoded. Authenticate with Authorization: Bearer <key> , or pass key as a parameter. The full reference is at notifi.it/docs . No signup. The app makes a keypair on first launch. That is your identity. Notifications are encrypted with your public key before they are stored, so the server only ever holds encrypted text. Apple relays an alert that just says notifi , and your phone decrypts the real title when it arrives. The server deletes a notification as soon as your device confirms it has collected it. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…
