Nourous
Adaptive AI content filtering for YouTube
What it does
Nourous is an AI-powered YouTube extension that makes the platform safer for families and for personal users. It uses adaptive AI to understand content and filter what doesn’t fit your family’s preferences — without relying on rigid blocklists. Set your preferences once and let Nourous do the filtering for you.
Nourous is an on-device AI YouTube filter that reshapes recommendations in real time — age-appropriate feeds for kids, fewer rabbit holes for you. Free forever for yourself; Family plan free for 14 days, no credit card.
For families using YouTube, Nourous gently guides recommendations toward what matters — so children stay aligned with your values, without taking the platform away. One filter, two dashboards — built for YouTube, on your computer and your phone. The whole pipeline runs on your device, in the moment the page loads. As YouTube loads, Nourous reads what's about to be recommended — right on the page, before you do. Clickbait spiral, comfort loop, or genuinely worth the time — every thumbnail is judged on your device, in real time. Against rules you set: age-appropriate limits for a child's profile, focus rules for your own. Same YouTube, same freedom to choose — just fewer traps between you and…from nourous.com

Hello HN! I found that picking out plausible but diverse skin tones for my digital art and game development projects was kind of difficult, and I got curious about if there was a way to define a color space that made it easy. I've built a color picker and procedural generation algorithm based on the space as well as a bunch of other fun js features and demos throughout the page that use the equations. If you find it interesting, I have lots of explanations of how I built it and what properties the space has. The methodology might be a bit shaky, but hopefully the result is as helpful for…

I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it. Happy to answer questions about the model, training, Core ML, or the many things that didn't work.
