Fed up of ugly and weird diving apps, I built my own2024 · depthlog.net · ▲12Hello everybody, I am new to HN but I must say I really enjoy the vibe. I have been coding for almost 15 years now and after having fired myself 2 times in a year (both from corporate and startup worlds), I decided to dedicate full time to what I love: building cool stuff for my own, with the dream of becoming a solopreneur. Among my many passions (some dangerous), I love scuba diving. All the logbook apps I tried had these problems: - Distant from the user experience and needs. - Complicated yet useless features that no one uses. Literally no one, not even those who created them. - Ugly. -…
OctolensJul 2026 · octolens.com · ▲354Hi Hacker News, Octolens is a social listening tool that helps early stage B2B software companies find social posts with buy signals. I use Octolens to grow our business daily, this is how: I track keywords related to our solved pain points, brand, and competitors. Octolens finds posts across sites like Reddit, X, LinkedIn, and more, then assesses them with AI for relevance and buying signals. I receive alerts about highly relevant posts in Slack. I then engage with these posts to connect and convert potential customers. As cold outbound becomes more challenging with AI automation and email…

Lovable▲1,477Hey HN! Previous CERN physicist turned hacker here. We've developed a way to make AI coding actually work by systematically identifying and fixing places where LLMs typically fail in full-stack development. Today we're launching as Lovable (previously gptengineer.app) since it's such a big change. The problem? AI writing code typically make small mistakes and then get stuck. Those who tried know the frustration. We fixed most of this by mapping out where LLMs fail in full-stack dev and engineering around those pitfalls with prompt chains. Thanks to this, in all comparisons I found with: v0,…

I wasn't quite sure if this qualified as "Show HN" given you can't really download it and try it out. However, dang said[0]: > If it's hardware or something that's not so easy to try out over the internet, find a different way to show how it actually works—a video, for example, or a detailed post with photos. Hopefully I did that? Additionally, I've put code and a detailed guide for the netboot computer management setup on GitHub: https://github.com/kentonv/lanparty Anyway, if this shouldn't have been Show HN, I apologize!
