OSS Agent I built topped the TerminalBench on Gemini-3-flash-preview

Scored 65.2% vs google's official 47.8%, and the existing top closed source model Junie CLI's 64.3%. Since there are a lot of reports of deliberate cheating on TerminalBench 2.0 lately (https://debugml.github.io/cheating-agents/), I would like to also clarify a few things 1. Absolutely no {agents/skills}.md files were inserted at any point. No cheating mechanisms whatsoever 2. The cli agent was run in leaderboard compliant way (no modification of resources or timeouts) 3. The full terminal bench run was done using the fully open source version of the agent, no…

In plain words

OSS Agent is an open-source AI agent that achieved a 65.2% score on TerminalBench, outperforming Google's official implementation and the leading closed-source alternative. Built for developers and AI researchers, it executes terminal commands and tasks through an AI interface. The project is fully open-source and available on GitHub, with the maker emphasizing transparent evaluation without benchmark manipulation techniques.

In the maker’s words, at launch

Scored 65.2% vs google's official 47.8%, and the existing top closed source model Junie CLI's 64.3%. Since there are a lot of reports of deliberate cheating on TerminalBench 2.0 lately (https://debugml.github.io/cheating-agents/), I would like to also clarify a few things 1. Absolutely no {agents/skills}.md files were inserted at any point. No cheating mechanisms whatsoever 2. The cli agent was run in leaderboard compliant way (no modification of resources or timeouts) 3. The full terminal bench run was done using the fully open source version of the agent, no difference between what is on github and what was run. I was originally going to wait for it to land on the leaderboard, but it has been 8 days and the maintainers do not respond unfortunately (there is a large backlog of the pull requests on their HF) so I decided to post anyways. HF PR: https://huggingface.co/datasets/harborframework/terminal-ben... It is astounding how much the harness matters, based on this and other experiments I have done.

After training calculator agent via RL, I really wanted to go bigger! So I built RL infrastructure for training long-horizon terminal/coding agents that scales from 2x A100s to 32x H100s (~$1M worth of compute!) Without any training, my 32B agent hit #19 on Terminal-Bench leaderboard, beating Stanford's Terminus-Qwen3-235B-A22! With training... well, too expensive, but I bet the results would be good! *What I did*: - Created a Claude Code-inspired agent (system msg + tools) - Built Docker-isolated GRPO training where each rollout gets its own container - Developed a multi-agent…

I've been building computer-use tools for a while, and I quietly launched this about a month ago (122 Stars on GH). I figured it was worth sharing here. Over the last few months, a lot of computer-use agents have come out: Codex, Claude Code, CUA, and others. Most of them seem to work roughly like this: 1. Take a screenshot 2. Have the model predict pixel coordinates 3. Click x,y 4. Take another screenshot 5. Repeat That works, but it's slow, expensive in tokens, and fragile. If the UI shifts a few pixels, things break. And the model still doesn't know what any element actually is. But the…

I'm Josh, founder of Synth. We've been working on coding agent optimization with method like GEPA and MIPRO (the latter of which, I helped to originally develop), agent evaluation via methods like RLMs, and large scale deployment for training and inference. We've also worked on patterns for memory, processing live context, and managing agent actions, combining it all in a single stack called Horizons. With the release of OpenAI's Frontier and the consumer excitement around OpenClaw, we think the timing is right to release a v0. It integrates with our sdk for evaluation and optimization but…

If you're interested in exploring what LLM-based agent systems these days actually do to solve certain benchmarks such as SWEBench or WebArena, we created a small leaderboard with our team, that allows to view a lot of public and OSS agent results including all the runtime traces (the step-by-step reasoning behind the scenes). Looking at traces is actually quite interesting, as they reveal a lot about the inner working and shortcomings of current agent system, e.g. see https://explorer.invariantlabs.ai/u/invariant/webarena--SteP... for an example trace.

  • I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it. Happy to answer questions about the model, training, Core ML, or the many things that didn't work.

  • Hey HN, Henry from Cactus here! We previously released Cactus Needle, a 14MB agentic LLM for tool call, device use, and structured extraction for phones, wearables, smart homes, small robots and microcontrollers. We got really great feedback here, and have now incorporated the suggestions to release Needle 2. The whole model is a single 14MB binary that runs a full session in 28MB of RAM; 45m parameters at 2bit compression. Needle hits 500 tokens/sec decode speed on a Raspberry Pi 5, sits between 400-1,500 tokens/sec on VR devices like Meta Quest 3S and Apple Vision Pro, and ranges…

With social media and now AI, its important to keep the indie web alive. There are many people who write frequently. Blogosphere tries to highlight them by fetching the recent posts from personal blogs across many categories. There are two versions: Minimal (HN-inspired, fast, static): https://text.blogosphere.app/ Non-minimal: https://blogosphere.app/ If you don't find your blog (or your favorite ones), please add them.
