In plain words

It is designed for developers and system administrators who need to optimize web performance on Debian-based systems. After struggling with it for many hours, I wrote a guide for personal future reference. I recently returned to those notes to entirely automate the process using GitHub Actions. Important Notice: Google has retired the underlying project which made integration with NGINX possible. As a result, the version maintained in my repository is stale , and is not receiving feature or security updates. Using this project is now discouraged and should be removed from your system. To remove it from your system, follow the instructions at the bottom of the page. No more than five emails per year, all densely packed with knowledge. In 2012, Google released version 1.0 of their PageSpeed modules for NGINX and Apache. It has gone largely unnoticed since then. The short of PageSpeed is that if you add it to your web server, you can configure it to optimize anything passing through…from knyz.org

I felt that publically available manpage repositories were lacking in one aspect or another (incomplete, hard to navigate, only offering plain text), so I set out to improve an existing one: the Debian manpage web repository. Check out e.g. https://manpages.debian.org/jessie/cron/crontab.5.en.html for an interesting entry point, showcasing a couple of features. For the full launch announcement, see https://people.debian.org/~stapelberg/2017/01/18/manpages-debian-org.html Hope this is useful to some of you!

  • History: Last year I had to replace the tire on my bike, and I was surprised how difficult it was to find a suitable new tire. There were a lot of numbers written on the casing, so I googled what they meant. In the end I was successful, but I didn't want to do the same work again for the next bike after I've forgotten the details. So I wrote this website. Technically, the web page is kept very simple, no frameworks, no templates, no website builder. It uses HTML5, CSS and JavaScript, and it privides a responsive layout for mobile usage. I'm happy to receive feedback. If you have tried the…
