What it does

PeakNav, a mobile application designed to immerse users in the breathtaking world of mountains and paths in stunning 3D detail. Navigate through immersive 3D landscapes but also capture memorable moments and share them with friends.

PeakNav shows every mountain on Earth in 3D, with peak names and elevations, trails, huts, and a real sky. Free and open source for Android, iOS, Windows, macOS and Linux — plus a Python package.

Every mountain on Earth, in 3D — with its name, its height and the paths that lead there. Fly over the terrain, point your phone at the horizon to name the peaks in front of you, or drop a photo in and see it tagged with the summits it shows. Free, open source, and works offline. PeakNav drapes satellite imagery, trails and place names over a real elevation model of the whole planet, then lets you look at it the way you look at a mountain — from the valley floor, from the summit, or from the air. Every summit is labelled with its name and elevation as you move through the terrain. Mountain ranges, islands, lakes, glaciers and alpine huts are labelled too. I'm working on a GPS track visualizer for quite some time. It shines in hilly and mountaineous terrain (where a 3D view makes more sense), but it also offers quite a lot of Strava-like features (statistics etc.). You can upload your GPX and FIT files manually, or sync directly with Garmin, Coros and Polar. See https://cubetrek.com for the live app and check out some examples there. It's free and opens source. Also, anyone who likes to work with 3D visualizations (especially Babylon.js), let me know if you like to help polish this thing further.
