What it does

pganalyze provides deep insights into Postgres. Other monitoring tools show you what happened. pganalyze tells you why. We've just introduced automated EXPLAIN plan collection, visualization and insights, so you know exactly why queries are slow.

DBAs and developers use pganalyze to identify the root cause of performance issues, optimize queries and to get alerts about critical issues. Sign up for free!

Deliver consistent database performance and availability through intelligent tuning advisors and continuous database profiling. Drill down into detailed per-query statistics and benefit from insights into your query performance history to detect slow queries. Automatically collect your EXPLAIN plans with auto_explain, and get detailed insights based on query plans gathered from your database. Understand why a query is slow and get tuning recommendations on how to make the query faster. Identify slowdowns for specific queries over time, I/O vs CPU time spent, and buffer cache hit ratio for each query. Automatically detects missing indexes and recommends single and multi-column indexes that…from pganalyze.com

This is like 4 years old, but I’m braver now and ready to share stuff with this community. I’ve been a lurker for a while. I made this tool - it’s kind of like “explain” but it tells you about what locks would be required by the query. I was making it as part of a larger tool that would try to prevent deadlocks during migrations at my last company, I never finished it.

Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…

After years of solo development I'm presenting: Angeldust, an omni-compatible action RPG and building game! Website: http://angeldu.st My single server hosts 250+K active players in one giant, dynamic fantasy world. Angeldust's game server is pervasively multithreaded, implementing John Carmack's dream of processing an immutable world state each tick. Both world handling and network traffic routing uses any number of threads. For networking, a typical game session only uses ~3Kbps of bandwidth, enabling decent play even over 2G/EDGE networks. The client is programmed in C++…
