In plain words

Pglens is a collection of 27 read-only PostgreSQL tools designed for AI agents using the Model Context Protocol (MCP). It enables AI systems to query and interact with PostgreSQL databases without write access, making it useful for developers building AI applications that need database integration. The toolset provides a safe way to give AI agents controlled read-only database access while maintaining data integrity.

From the sources

Read-only PostgreSQL introspection for AI agents. 31 MCP tools for schema discovery, data exploration, query execution, and health monitoring. Pure pg_catalog , no extensions required. Most Postgres MCP servers expose query and list_tables , and little else. Agents end up guessing column names, enum values, and join paths, burning several failed attempts before landing on working SQL. pglens closes those gaps. The agent can check what values actually exist in a column, discover foreign-key relationships, preview sample data, and validate a query plan before running it. column_values in particular: agents frequently write WHERE status = 'active' when the real value is 'Active' or 'enabled' .…from github.com

Hey HN, I built pg-mcp, a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for PostgreSQL that provides structured schema inspection and query execution for LLMs and agents. It's multi-tenant and runs over HTTP/SSE (not stdio) Features - Supports multiple database connections from multiple agents - Schema Introspection: Returns table structures, types, indexes and constraints; enriched with descriptions from pg_catalog. (for well documented databases) - Read-Only Queries: Controlled execution of queries via MCP. - EXPLAIN Tool: Helps smart agents optimize queries before execution. - Extension…

PgQueuer is a Python job queue that uses PostgreSQL for everything — queue storage, locking, notifications. No Redis, no RabbitMQ, no separate broker to operate. If your app already has Postgres, you already have the broker. After ~2 years and 26 minor releases, 1.0 ships today as the first stable release. Strict semver from here on. Thanks to everyone who contributed and left feedback!

  • SnapQL – Desktop app to query Postgres with AI2025 · github.com · ▲104

SnapQL is an open-source desktop app (built with Electron) that lets you query your Postgres database using natural language. It’s schema-aware, so you don’t need to copy-paste your schema or write complex SQL by hand. Everything runs locally — your OpenAI API key, your data, and your queries — so it's secure and private. Just connect your DB, describe what you want, and SnapQL writes and runs the SQL for you.

  • Parse your Postgres queries into a fully-typed AST in TypeScript2024 · github.com · ▲116

Hey all, I'm the creator of @pg-nano/pg-parser. I'm using it in pg-nano[1] to statically analyze Postgres schemas spread across multiple SQL files for a couple of reasons: 1. Each CREATE statement needs to be in topological order, so pg-nano's dev command can execute them without issue. 2. pg-nano has a plugin system like Vite that allows SQL generation based on the parsed schema. Probably to the surprise of no one, working with an untyped AST feels like you're back in the days of JavaScript, because well... you are. Most of you know by now just how great TypeScript and static types in…

Hi HN, Been hacking on a simple way to run agents entirely inside of a Postgres database, "an agent per row". Things you could build with this: * Your own agent orchestrator * A personal assistant with time travel * (more things I can't think of yet) Not quite there yet but thought I'd share it in its current state.
