From the sources

Picosnitch is a small userspace daemon built on BPF and fanotify . It notifies you when a new program connects to the network or when one is modified on disk, and keeps a per-executable log of every connection, with sent/received bytes, hashes, parents, domains, ports, and users. Bandwidth and connection counts broken down by executable, parent, domain, port, or user, over a configurable time range. Light and dark themes follow your system preference. picosnitch webui # http://localhost:5100 (override with PICOSNITCH_HOST / PICOSNITCH_PORT) Terminal UI ¶ A curses-based read-only view of the same database, useful over SSH or on headless boxes. picosnitch helps you protect your security and privacy by "snitching" on anything that connects to the internet, letting you know when, how much data was transferred, and to where. It uses BPF to monitor network traffic per application, and per parent to cover those that just call others. It also hashes every executable, and will complain if some mischievous program is giving it trouble.

  • History: Last year I had to replace the tire on my bike, and I was surprised how difficult it was to find a suitable new tire. There were a lot of numbers written on the casing, so I googled what they meant. In the end I was successful, but I didn't want to do the same work again for the next bike after I've forgotten the details. So I wrote this website. Technically, the web page is kept very simple, no frameworks, no templates, no website builder. It uses HTML5, CSS and JavaScript, and it privides a responsive layout for mobile usage. I'm happy to receive feedback. If you have tried the…
