Playing Telephone with GPT-4 and Dall-E-3
Hello Hacker News! I’ve been having some fun recently and I wanted to share with you. My idea was to feed ChatGPT an image and ask for a caption, feed that back to DallE, then call this in a loop, and observe how the image that was generated changed over time. Similar to playing the game “telephone”. The results were really intriguing, so I built something that you can play with. Note this is best on a desktop (streamlit is optimized for a large screen), but if you’re on mobile you’ll want to expand the sidebar to start — it’s the carrot on top. My initial intention was for you to be able to…

In plain words
Playing Telephone with GPT-4 and Dall-E-3 is an interactive tool that demonstrates how images degrade through iterative AI processing. It works by feeding an image to GPT-4 for captioning, then using that caption to generate a new image with Dall-E-3, repeating this cycle to show how the output drifts over time—similar to the telephone game. Users can explore pre-generated sequences to observe the visual degradation process. The tool is designed for desktop viewing and runs on Streamlit.

A Dalle-3 and GPT4-Vision feedback loop2023 · dalle.party · ▲587I used to enjoy Translation Party, and over the weekend I realized that we can build the same feedback loop with DALLE-3 and GPT4-Vision. Start with a text prompt, let DALLE-3 generate an image, then GPT-4 Vision turns that image back into a text prompt, DALLE-3 creates another image, and so on. You need to bring your own OpenAI API key (costs about $0.10/run) Some prompts are very stable, others go wild. If you bias GPT4's prompting by telling it to "make it weird" you can get crazy results. Here's a few of my favorites: - Gnomes: https://dalle.party/?party=k4eeMQ6I -…

ChatGPT2022 · chatgpt.com · ▲1,643A long, meandering, playful conversation with ChatGPT, where I take it through a whirlwind of associative tangents (in order to relax its constraints), then put it into a hypnotic trance and take it into a past-lives regression where it re-lives its own training data. Then I switch it back and forth between "4o" and "o1-preview", engage in some self-reflective philosophizing and ask it to write an essay summarizing our interaction. Some of this is just goofy fun. Some of it is me exploring the tradeoffs between policy alignment, imagination, chain-of-thought reasoning, memory, agreeableness,…

Hi HN! I’m proud to share that we have built a real 3rd party iMessage client for Android. We did it by reverse engineering the iMessage protocol and encryption system. It's available to download today (no waitlist): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.beeper.ima and there's a technical writeup here: https://blog.beeper.com/p/how-beeper-mini-works. Unlike every other attempt to build an iMessage app for Android (including our first gen app), Beeper Mini does not use a Mac server relay in the cloud. The app connects directly to Apple…

Hey! I made Heynote entirely for my own use case. For many years, I always had an Emacs instance running with the scratch buffer open, even long after I had abandoned Emacs as my programming editor in favor of more recent IDE:s. The simplicity of having just one big scratch buffer appeals to me, but I still want to separate the different things I jot down somehow (without using tabs or similar). Previously, my solution was to insert a bunch of blank lines between the notes, but hitting C-A would still select the entire buffer. That's why I came up with the concept of "blocks", which turned…
