ProgrammerHumor.io – WordPress to Phoenix Liveview ~ 7x faster

I migrated programmerhumor.io from WordPress to Elixir/Phoenix and the results are mind-blowing. The site is now blazingly fast with dramatically reduced server load and zero crashes. No more WordPress plugin hell with constant conflicts, security patches, and performance degradation. Phoenix LiveView made the UX significantly smoother than the WordPress version. The migration process was surprisingly manageable thanks to Phoenix's clean conventions, which helped untangle the WordPress spaghetti schema. My only regret is not making the switch sooner.

In plain words

ProgrammerHumor.io is a humor website that was migrated from WordPress to Elixir and Phoenix LiveView. The rebuild delivers seven times faster performance with reduced server load and improved stability. The site uses Phoenix LiveView to provide a smoother user experience compared to the original WordPress version. Built for anyone seeking programmer-focused humor and entertainment, the platform eliminates the maintenance burdens of WordPress plugins, security patches, and performance issues that plagued the previous version.

  • Hi HN, I built Eigendrum, a web tool that solves the 2D wave equation for arbitrary shapes so you can hear what they sound like as drums. How it works: * Solves -∇²u = λu using finite element analysis (Kφ = λMφ) on a triangle mesh. * Validated to <0.1% error against closed-form solutions for circles (Bessel zeros) and rectangles. * Sound model factors in strike location, Rayleigh damping, and mallet width. * Includes Kac drums I & II to demonstrate identical sound spectra from different geometries. * No frameworks, build steps, or dependencies. Repo and tests:…
