Project Automator

Automate Your System Setup

Project Automator launched on April 6, 2025 with 8 votes and more than 50% of that year's launches. The site was still online in September 2026, 1 year on.

What it does

I got tired of setting up the tools everytime I get a new system, so I finally made this.

Automate your system setup. Contribute to basantech89/project-automator development by creating an account on GitHub.

Automator automates environment setup. Automator assumes you don't have even git installed, and then install the tools like git, node, dbeaver, postman, warp terminal, etc. It'll skip the installation of tools if they are already installed. You can run this tool as many times as you want, and choose different options as per your choice. You can choose among bash, zsh, or fish. I'd recommend to choose the fish shell as your shell program. You can find all the plugins, their aliases, and description that Automator install for zsh here https://github.com/ohmyzsh/ohmyzsh/wiki/plugins If the script fails, run it again, it'll pass unless there's a fatal issue. Hey, HN community, We're so excited to share Automatisch with HN finally. Automatisch is an open-source workflow automation tool, an alternative to Zapier. Together with my co-founder (@barinali), we have been working on it for about 15 months and have started getting early adopters. Automatisch is a workflow automation tool that lets you connect different web services like Slack, Github, Twitter, and more to automate your business processes. For example, you can build automation that gets all new tweets, including the "open source" phrase, and post them to the Slack channel you specified.…

Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…

  • Hi everyone, I built PyXL — a hardware processor that executes a custom assembly generated from Python programs, without using a traditional interpreter or virtual machine. It compiles Python -> CPython Bytecode -> Instruction set designed for direct hardware execution. I’m sharing an early benchmark: a GPIO test where PyXL achieves a 480ns round-trip toggle — compared to 14-25 micro seconds on a MicroPython Pyboard - even though PyXL runs at a lower clock (100MHz vs. 168MHz). The design is stack-based, fully pipelined, and preserves Python's dynamic typing without static type restrictions.…
