Proxim
Find and post new and innovative open source projects
Proxim launched on July 17, 2023 with 102 votes, #583 of 4,347 launches that month and more than 75% of that year's launches. The site was still online in September 2026, 3 years on.
What it does
These days it's hard to find innovative open-source projects to use, and just as hard to get exposure/contributors for your own project. Proxim solves both problems at once to form a community that fosters open-source development.
A lightweight desktop companion for voice chat during games. Integrates with small (4–12 player) peer-to-peer multiplayer games to add serverless multiplayer and proximity chat.

We strongly believe working on open source software should be a viable source of income for many more developers. Unfortunately, the following barriers limit the extent of open source funding: - Only a small fraction of open source projects are funded, and most money goes to a few notable projects. - Each project has to market is self to get significant funding. - Large corporate donations provide the bulk of the funding, making it unreliable and unattainable for many. - Finding and supporting each of your dependencies is a cumbersome task. Which ones, how much, and on which platforms? So we…

That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…

I saw this [0] pretty cool thread by user revskill, and wanted a quicker way to search through it, but also to keep them all in one place so I can read them at my leisure whenever I get time. Right now is like 60 lines of Ruby using Nokogiri, but I will certainly look into it further down the line and improve the list. There's a cronjob checking the thread every 12 hours but I will eventually shut that down and it will become static after that. There are some really awesome blogs in there. I really recommend going through the list, it made my day. [0] "Could you share your personal blog…
