Measured: 6.5% false alarms across 300 changes in 26 repositories. RealIP trusted client-supplied forwarding headers, the documented attack pattern in three GitHub security advisories. ClientIP replaces it, reworked through review to align with them, and shipped in v5.3.0. Second-parent walks doubled index time and produced blame nobody recognised.
