PullAtlas

A calm workspace for worldbuilding and writing fiction.

What it does

A private manuscript workspace for fiction writers. Chapters, worldbuilding, continuity tracking and serial release scheduling in one place, plus real-time co-writing when you want it. Worldbuilding happens from inside the editor, so a moment of inspiration never sends you hunting through another app. AI is optional, off by default, and bring-your-own-key. Nothing you write trains anything.

A private manuscript workspace for fiction writers: chapters, planning, continuity, review, and release planning in one calm place.

Characters, factions, places, magic systems, and plot in one connected atlas, beside an editor that already knows them. Stop keeping your story straight across six documents and a spreadsheet. Nobody stops writing because the sentences got hard. They stop because the book got too big to hold in their head. Her eyes were grey in chapter three and blue in nineteen, and a reader found it first. The spreadsheet of ages and timelines has been rebuilt three times. The series bible is split across six documents that disagree, and every session starts with four chapters of rereading before you can write one. Select a name in your prose and the Atlas takes it without you leaving the sentence. From…from pullatlas.com

Hello HN! I found that picking out plausible but diverse skin tones for my digital art and game development projects was kind of difficult, and I got curious about if there was a way to define a color space that made it easy. I've built a color picker and procedural generation algorithm based on the space as well as a bunch of other fun js features and demos throughout the page that use the equations. If you find it interesting, I have lots of explanations of how I built it and what properties the space has. The methodology might be a bit shaky, but hopefully the result is as helpful for…

  • I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it. Happy to answer questions about the model, training, Core ML, or the many things that didn't work.
