Radi.js

JavaScript framework that's quite different and super fast

Radi.js launched on March 14, 2018 with 7 votes, #1,066 of 2,954 launches that month and more than 50% of that year's launches. The site was still online in September 2026, 8 years on.

What it does

Radi is a tiny (3kB minified & gzipped) javascript framework. It's built quite differently from any other framework. It doesn't use any kind of diffing algorithm nor virtual dom which makes it really fast.

🌀Tiny (in size) front-end framework with no extra browser re-flows

Radi is a lightweight reactive JSX runtime that lets you write components as plain functions with direct DOM manipulation — no virtual DOM required. This enables fine-grained reactivity — when parent state changes, only the specific reactive expressions that read props will update. Component functions execute exactly once. The returned JSX is the component’s template. State lives in closure variables: Wrap any expression in a function to make it reactive. When update() is called on an ancestor, these functions re-execute: Radi uses native DOM events ( update , connect , disconnect ) instead of a custom scheduler. Call update(node) to trigger reactivefrom radi.js.org

Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…
