ReadMyBid

Compare roofing quotes. Spot missing and unclear scope.

What it does

ReadMyBid is a free beta for U.S. homeowners reviewing roofing quotes. Check one quote, compare 2–3 bids, or review a revised quote. See written scope, unclear details, exclusions, allowances, and warranties, plus questions to ask your contractor. Missing information is not treated as proof that work is included. Try a sample without uploading. AI can make mistakes; this is document analysis, not an inspection or legal advice.

Check a U.S. residential roofing quote for clear, unclear, excluded, or missing details, then get questions to ask before signing. You can also compare 2–3 quotes.

See what's included, what's unclear, and what could cost you extra before you sign. One quote may include flashing, decking or disposal that another leaves unclear. Two quotes may sound similar while specifying very different products or warranties. Some costs only appear after work starts because the original quote never defined the rate. ReadMyBid reviews the written document. It does not guess what your roof needs or rank the contractor. Get specific questions to send your contractor before you agree. Start by checking the original quote. After the report, upload the revised version to compare the wording. Use quotes for the same property and roofing work. I've been working on this the last few days after seeing a post on reddit calling for this exact website to exist. I'm hoping the email-less/account-less and open data might be appealing. I'd love any feedback you might have, and of course if you were to volunteer some data ;) I'm aware it looks bad on mobile atm.

Hi HN! At Open Listings, we build technology to make buying a house simpler and more affordable. Ultimately, we want to make buying a house as simple as clicking a button. Our core technology is really our transaction process. While we also provide some shopping tools for house hunters, we recognize that people don’t just use 1 site when they’re searching for a home. In the spirit of supporting our clients even if they’er shopping on other sites, we made a “buy button” that we hope will work anywhere. When you click, it looks for address and MLS# on your current page and fills them in on our…

  • I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it. Happy to answer questions about the model, training, Core ML, or the many things that didn't work.

  • Hey HN, Henry from Cactus here! We previously released Cactus Needle, a 14MB agentic LLM for tool call, device use, and structured extraction for phones, wearables, smart homes, small robots and microcontrollers. We got really great feedback here, and have now incorporated the suggestions to release Needle 2. The whole model is a single 14MB binary that runs a full session in 28MB of RAM; 45m parameters at 2bit compression. Needle hits 500 tokens/sec decode speed on a Raspberry Pi 5, sits between 400-1,500 tokens/sec on VR devices like Meta Quest 3S and Apple Vision Pro, and ranges…

Hello HN! I found that picking out plausible but diverse skin tones for my digital art and game development projects was kind of difficult, and I got curious about if there was a way to define a color space that made it easy. I've built a color picker and procedural generation algorithm based on the space as well as a bunch of other fun js features and demos throughout the page that use the equations. If you find it interesting, I have lots of explanations of how I built it and what properties the space has. The methodology might be a bit shaky, but hopefully the result is as helpful for…
