What it does
A live, date-accurate map of the solar system. Watch the planets and the Moon move in real time, scrub to any date between 3000 BC and AD 3000, and read the exact distances, speeds and phases behind every position.
This simulation needs JavaScript. Everything else on the site works without it. Positions are computed from VSOP87 and an ELP-derived lunar theory, accurate to within one arcminute. Nothing here is an animation on a timer: every body is where it actually is. Planet positions come from VSOP87 and the Moon from an ELP-derived series, both validated against NOVAS and JPL Horizons to within one arcminute. Eclipse and phase times are exact to the minute. This is not suitable for navigation or spacecraft operations. Event times on this page were computed on 5 September 2026 .
