RealUptime
Honest monitoring: uptime, status pages, error tracking
What it does
Most status pages collapse the whole world into one green dot. If you're up in Virginia but down in Frankfurt, that dot is lying to your customers. RealUptime checks from 4 regions and shows every region's reading by default. One platform: status pages, uptime monitoring, error tracking, and free "Is it down?" outage pages. Flat monthly pricing, no per-subscriber or per-check fees. Free tier: 10 monitors and a public status page, forever.
RealUptime is four products for the same customer: a public status page, private uptime monitoring, application error tracking, and a free tracker for 940 popular services. Three check from the same ten-region probe fleet and keep every region's reading separate instead of collapsing into one badge.
Pick the product that fits how you want to find out. Three check your services from ten live regions and keep every reading separate, because a single check from a single location can't see a regional outage. One watches from inside your code. See the problem The free tier is 10 monitors across all ten regions, no card required. We launched on Product Hunt : code PRODUCTHUNT takes 25% off any plan for 3 months, through September 30. This is the shape of the fleet, not a live traffic feed: an illustration of where the always-on probes run and how a check moves between them. Illustrative. Every one of these regions checks independently, so a problem in one never hides behind the others. For…from realuptime.io

Hello HN! I found that picking out plausible but diverse skin tones for my digital art and game development projects was kind of difficult, and I got curious about if there was a way to define a color space that made it easy. I've built a color picker and procedural generation algorithm based on the space as well as a bunch of other fun js features and demos throughout the page that use the equations. If you find it interesting, I have lots of explanations of how I built it and what properties the space has. The methodology might be a bit shaky, but hopefully the result is as helpful for…

I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it. Happy to answer questions about the model, training, Core ML, or the many things that didn't work.
