What it does
The missing media player for Instagram Reels on web. Adds timeline scrubbing, speed control, auto-scrolling, and 4K frame extraction directly to the native UI. 100% local, zero tracking.
Take full control of Instagram Reels on desktop. Frame-by-frame scrubbing, custom playback speed, and an auto-scroll engine built for creators and power viewers.
We design utilities that bring clarity, precision, and complete control to the way you watch vertical video. Finally, a fluid seekbar for Reels. Jump forwards or backwards instantly without re-watching the whole clip. The control bar dynamically morphs based on aspect ratio: single row for landscape, two rows for portrait. Stop fighting system audio settings. Control video volume directly from a dedicated slider on the overlay. Hands-free browsing. The extension advances to the next reel the exact moment the current video ends. Control your pacing. Quick drop-up menu to slow down to 0.5x for analysis or speed up to 2x for fast watching. Stop Reels2025 · chromewebstore.google.com · ▲163Hey HN, I just launched a free Chrome extension called Stop Reels — it blocks Reels/short videos on platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok, without breaking other features like messaging or the regular feed. Why I built it Like many people, I found myself endlessly scrolling Reels even when I only opened the apps for something specific. The algorithms are too good at hijacking attention. There are tools to block entire sites, but none I found that just surgically block Reels and Shorts — and leave the rest of the platform functional (DMs, posts, marketplace, etc). So I built…

Clipto MCP▲655Hey HN, We recently built Clipto. It’s a tool that lets you search over terabytes of video, audio, and images on your computer, without relying on the cloud. Motivation: we probably all had this similar experience, we know a moment exists in a video or audio, but finding it takes hours scrubbing the timeline. You can send all the media to process in the cloud, but it’s slow, expensive and raises privacy concerns. So we decided to build our own on-device media search engine. How it works (high level): 1. We ingest video, audio, image; normalize formats via ffmpeg; run content analysis to…

Hello HN! I found that picking out plausible but diverse skin tones for my digital art and game development projects was kind of difficult, and I got curious about if there was a way to define a color space that made it easy. I've built a color picker and procedural generation algorithm based on the space as well as a bunch of other fun js features and demos throughout the page that use the equations. If you find it interesting, I have lots of explanations of how I built it and what properties the space has. The methodology might be a bit shaky, but hopefully the result is as helpful for…
