Untested backups aren't backups. restoredrill proves your PostgreSQL and MySQL backups actually restore. It fetches the latest backup, restores it into a throwaway container, runs checks you define, and writes a JSON report with the restore time. Or, if something else already restored a copy for you, it can just connect and run the same checks against that instead. Status: v0.4.0, early days. Postgres, plus MySQL 8 from mysqldump files. Things may still change. Everyone knows they should test restores. Almost nobody does, because there is no safe place to test, and there is not enough time. I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it.
