SaaSaholics.com - A forum for SaaS builders (and a contest)

Hey Guys, I set this up a while ago and have tried a variety of things to get it really kicked into gear, and this is my newest attempt. The forum is meant as a community for anyone involved in startups and specifically SaaS based systems (Software as a Service). I know, why a forum when we have HN? My opinion is because HN is inherently temporal/trend based, whereas a forum can maintain conversations that last months (or even years sometimes). As participation grows in a forum, it only becomes more valuable to both newcomers and veterans alike. So I see SaaSaholics.com being in a symbiotic…

In plain words

SaaSaholics.com is a forum community designed for startup founders and software-as-a-service builders. Unlike time-based news sites, the forum maintains long-running conversations that grow more valuable over time as participation increases. It serves as a networking space for both newcomers and experienced builders to discuss SaaS topics in depth. The platform includes a contest offering lifetime account access to early contributors.

I setup this up about two months ago and seeded it with a variety of questions about stuff SaaS related but it ultimately ran out of steam. I truly think there's a need for real honest to goodness web forum for SaaS enthusiasts as forums often turn into a gold mine of quality content as the user base grows and matures. So this is my attempt to get this thing some exposure and get some users for it. It's not meant as a replacement for Hacker News at all, as HN is a perfect platform for trends and current news. But I think it's lacking when it comes to fostering long term topic discussion…

A few days ago, I responded to a comment by bloggergirl offering to read anyone's web copy and help. I shot off an email hoping for a paragraph or two of feedback on my startup's copy. Instead I received a professional, detailed deck of tons of invaluable well thought out feedback. It must have taken her an entire afternoon. Here's a link to it: http://www.slideshare.net/shereefb/recommendations-for-bettermeans To top it off, this isn't someone with a lot of free time on her hands, she's only days away from launching her own startup (page99test) This community blows my mind!

I am an indie hacker and have been launching my products on Product Hunt. Like many of you here, my experience with PH sucked: Lots of bots. Hard to compete. There's also been many new launch platforms coming up, but all of them make you compete for upvotes. Ugh. So I have been working on something different: https://saascurate.com/ It's a community-driven platform where indie hackers and SaaS founders help each other grow their products. The idea is simple - list your product, engage with other founders, gain exposure and social proof. No upvote system. It's hard and…
