Search to Play

Hey HN, I’m the solo developer of Search to Play, a social bookmarking platform for gamers — kind of like Letterboxd or Goodreads, but for video games. You can log your games, track your backlog, write reviews, and follow others. I’m building this as an alternative to spreadsheet tracking or platform-locked tools (Steam, PSN, etc). Would love your feedback! Happy to answer any questions here.

Search to Play launched on April 24, 2025 with 31 votes, #716 of 7,818 launches that month and more than 90% of that year's launches. The site was still online in September 2026, 1 year on.

What it does

Search to Play is a social cataloguing platform for discovering and tracking video games — inspired by Goodreads and Letterboxd, but made for gamers.

Discover, track, and share your gaming experiences. Create lists, write reviews, and connect with other gamers.

Searchtoplay is a social platform to discover video games, track your library and backlog, and share your passion for gaming. A clean and social gaming journal — inspired by Letterboxd and Goodreads. Keep track of every game you've ever played (or just start from the day you join). Rate games on a five-star scale and log your playthroughs (dates, hours, platform, etc.). Discover games using extensive filters (including subscription services). Build backlog, game series, showcase your favorites, and share collections on any topic. Share your thoughts and experiences with friends and the gaming community. Follow friends to view their games, reviews, and lists. Network with other players. What…from searchtoplay.com

I created an open Product Hunt for games2016 · ▲11

I have been in the position plenty of times where I am trying to get my game out there and there just aren't a lot of places to do it. Product Hunt is great... but it's a little restricting and difficult if you don't have an in to post. So I created Game Hunt. The goal is to help with the exposure of a game to people who might not otherwise get exposure to it. Here's the link http://gamehunt.co/ Any feedback would be great!

Friend and me created a video game discovery website trying to answer the "what to play next" question. Unlike most other sites we wanted to support every platform, so whether you look for something on your PC, Playstation, Switch or even your phone or browser you should find something. We're still in the early stages and seek feedback (especially on the https://gamebrain.co/what-should-i-play and https://gamebrain.co/recommendations flows). Any well-meaning feedback is highly appreciated!

  • Hi everyone, I built PyXL — a hardware processor that executes a custom assembly generated from Python programs, without using a traditional interpreter or virtual machine. It compiles Python -> CPython Bytecode -> Instruction set designed for direct hardware execution. I’m sharing an early benchmark: a GPIO test where PyXL achieves a 480ns round-trip toggle — compared to 14-25 micro seconds on a MicroPython Pyboard - even though PyXL runs at a lower clock (100MHz vs. 168MHz). The design is stack-based, fully pipelined, and preserves Python's dynamic typing without static type restrictions.…
