What it does
Semgrep combines static analysis and LLMs to ensure that both security teams and developers only deal with real security issues.
Semgrep Multimodal combines AI reasoning with rule-based analysis for detection, triage, and remediation.
Ready to move off legacy AppSec? The New Shift Program helps you switch from Checkmarx or Snyk . Semgrep Multimodal combines AI reasoning with rule-based analysis for detection, triage, and remediation. Semgrep Multimodal detects the false positives that static analysis alone could never catch by understanding the mitigating context around a finding. Multimodal reduces the number of findings you need to triage by 20% the day you turn it on, and improves over time as it learns from triage decisions. After filtering out the noise, give developers tailored, step-by-step remediation instructions in their PRs - so real findings are fixed before security teams ever see them. Multimodal turns…from semgrep.dev

https://semgrep.dev/products/semgrep-app Hi! I work on Semgrep, an open-source project (discussed on HN previously [0][1)]. We’re one of those companies that maintain an OSS tool and a web app, and then monetize by selling enterprise features on said web app. Our free web app just went through a major revamp (sort of like a v1.0 release) so this feels like the perfect time to share and hear what the HN crowd thinks! Let me start with some backstory on Semgrep. Our team, r2c, has been experimenting with various ways to help organizations step up their application security…
Semgrep Assistant, a set of surgical AI tools for AppSec2025 · semgrep.dev · ▲8Heya HN, excited to show off what I've been privately calling an AI cybersecurity tool built by AI skeptics. Two years ago we started a series of experiments with this philosophy of identifying small pieces of cognitive work where a human can very clearly map out the input data they need and the algorithm they'd follow to make a decision. This idea came partly out of frustration with the zeitgeist involving throwing broad AI features (e.g. useless chat bots) into products that end up unreliable and are targeting no clear problem a user might actually have. It feels kind of like a machete vs.…

Talanoa▲341Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…

- TITetris in a PDF▲1,289
I realized that the PDF engines of modern desktop browsers (PDFium and PDF.js) support JavaScript with enough I/O primitives to make a basic game like Tetris. It was a bit tricky to find a union of features that work in both engines, but in the end it turns out that showing/hiding annotation "fields" works well to make monochrome pixels, and keyboard input can be achieved by typing in a text input box. All in all it's quite janky but a nice reminder of how general purpose PDF scripting can be. The linked PDF is all ASCII so you can just open it in a text editor, or have a look at…

21st.dev▲1,211I originally built this app to organize and reuse interesting React + Tailwind components I came across on Twitter, inspired by the shadcn/ui approach. Later, a friend started contributing their own components, and it got me thinking—this could grow into something bigger, like an NPM for design engineers to share and use components. Would love to hear your thoughts!
