SensWear
An open-source modular platform for building wearables
What it does
Stop rebuilding wearables from scratch. SensWear is an open-source, modular platform for creating smart rings, wristbands, patches, and custom devices. Mix sensor modules, access synchronized raw data, run edge AI, and build with Python or TypeScript without vendor lock-in or a required cloud. The full stack is MIT-licensed. SensWear is an open-source wearable AI platform for researchers, developers, and innovators. Build next-generation smart rings, patches, and wearable devices with modular hardware, raw sensor access, edge AI, and full-stack SDK support.
Hardware, firmware (Zephyr), and software open-source and under the MIT license. Access to raw data for AI/ML, signal processing, and sensing. Main board for compute and wireless; custom-built or pre-built daughter boards for peripherals via I2C. Mobile applications for data streaming and testing on both Android and iOS. APIs and SDKs for prototyping, research, and experimentation. SensWear is certified under the healthware program of the Open Source Hardware Association (OSHWA). Click for more info. Wether you’re a developer, researcher, or industry leader, SensWear gives you the tools to build what’s next. from senswar import SenswarClient async with SenswarClient() as device:…from sens-wear.com

Hello HN! I found that picking out plausible but diverse skin tones for my digital art and game development projects was kind of difficult, and I got curious about if there was a way to define a color space that made it easy. I've built a color picker and procedural generation algorithm based on the space as well as a bunch of other fun js features and demos throughout the page that use the equations. If you find it interesting, I have lots of explanations of how I built it and what properties the space has. The methodology might be a bit shaky, but hopefully the result is as helpful for…

I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it. Happy to answer questions about the model, training, Core ML, or the many things that didn't work.
