shieldcn

hey hn! been working on a small side project called shieldcn and just added a badge builder + community showcase. the shieldcn project was so well recieved and I got some great feedback, so coming here in hopes I get more. https://www.shieldcn.dev/showcase the idea is just to make badges that feel a bit more like real UI instead of the usual shields style ones you can mess around with styles, icons, themes and share whatever you make still super early so mostly trying to figure out if this is actually useful or if i'm missing something obvious if anything feels off or…

shieldcn launched on April 26, 2026 with 10 votes, #1,251 of 21,248 launches that month and more than 90% of that year's launches.

What it does

A shields.io alternative with shadcn/ui design quality. GitHub, npm, and Discord badges with 6 variants, 16 themes, and 5,000+ icons. Free and open source.

Beautiful GitHub README badges and charts styled as shadcn/ui, plus a free visual README builder. Generate SVG and PNG badges for npm, GitHub, GitLab, Discord, and 45+ providers, build charts and header banners, and compose a whole README in the Studio. Free and open source.

Pick a type, customize every prop, copy the output in the badge builder . Or build your whole README in the README Studio — a visual GitHub README builder for headers, badges, and charts. Shadcn-styled star history, lifetime commit history, issues over time, npm downloads, and your own JSON data — portable SVGs, nofrom shieldcn.dev

I originally built this app to organize and reuse interesting React + Tailwind components I came across on Twitter, inspired by the shadcn/ui approach. Later, a friend started contributing their own components, and it got me thinking—this could grow into something bigger, like an NPM for design engineers to share and use components. Would love to hear your thoughts!

http://www.hnshowcase.com Moses (nnythm) and I browse Hacker News daily. Show HN posts are some of our favorite parts of HN. We wanted to create a way to browse Show HN articles, even those that might not quite make it to the front page. We created http://www.hnshowcase.com last weekend to make discovering projects posted on HN easier. It searches all "Show HN" posts and generates a thumbnail view for each of them. You can sort by submission date, points, and number of comments, and navigate with left/right or j/k keys. We used the following technologies: HN Search API, Pyramid web…

Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…

Blogosphere tries to highlight them by fetching the recent posts from personal blogs across many categories. There are two versions: Minimal (HN-inspired, fast, static): https://text.blogosphere.app/ Non-minimal: https://blogosphere.app/ If you don't find your blog (or your favorite ones), please add them.
