Sift - Recipe Capture
The recipe, without the recipe page
Sift - Recipe Capture launched on August 25, 2026 with 2 votes, #5,788 of 23,274 launches that month.
What it does
Sift strips a recipe page down to ingredients and steps, finds the recipe on its own through a Safari extension, and keeps your screen awake while you cook. Timers are parsed out of the steps. Saved recipes work offline. Free, no account necessary.

Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS. I cook on a daily basis and am constantly navigating various recipe websites. This app has transformed that entire process for me. I’m able to quickly view recipes in a clean format, search for recipes online AND have Safari auto-detect content to automatically open the recipe in Sift. The compare functionality is great, especially when I don’t want to follow a recipe verbatim. I can honestly say, this app shines over other apps that do similar things. I’ve never seen auto-detect in another app, and that really sets this app apart! I cook on a daily basis and am constantly navigating various recipe websites. This app has…from apps.apple.com

- RSRecipe search engine, built in vanilla PHP2022 · recipehunt.app · ▲67
1) Summary = RecipeHunt(http://recipehunt.app) is a Recipe Search Engine that gives you the only 3 things that matter in my opinion: (a) Picture, (b) Ingredients, (c) Directions 2) Problem = Every recipe site is bloated(e.g. full of ads, long backstory). I just want to see 3 things: Picture, Ingredients, Directions. 3) Solution = Built a simple Recipe Search Engine that gives you only those 3 things. 4) Tech Stack = Vanilla HTML, CSS, Javascript, PHP, SQL (some JQuery). Frameworks are too complicated for me, so I just wanted to build with what I know. 5) Design -Main Feed = Similar…

Clipto MCP▲655Hey HN, We recently built Clipto. It’s a tool that lets you search over terabytes of video, audio, and images on your computer, without relying on the cloud. Motivation: we probably all had this similar experience, we know a moment exists in a video or audio, but finding it takes hours scrubbing the timeline. You can send all the media to process in the cloud, but it’s slow, expensive and raises privacy concerns. So we decided to build our own on-device media search engine. How it works (high level): 1. We ingest video, audio, image; normalize formats via ffmpeg; run content analysis to…

Hello HN! I found that picking out plausible but diverse skin tones for my digital art and game development projects was kind of difficult, and I got curious about if there was a way to define a color space that made it easy. I've built a color picker and procedural generation algorithm based on the space as well as a bunch of other fun js features and demos throughout the page that use the equations. If you find it interesting, I have lots of explanations of how I built it and what properties the space has. The methodology might be a bit shaky, but hopefully the result is as helpful for…
