Silly Morse code chat app using WebSockets
My dad just bought a new printer. I joked and asked if it also had fax and a scanner. He said yes, not realizing I was making fun of him, so I asked if it also supported Morse code. That made it clear :) Anyway, I decided to take the joke too far and build a silly Morse code chat app for fun.

In plain words
Silly Morse Code Chat App is a real-time messaging application built with WebSockets that lets users communicate by sending and receiving messages in Morse code format. Designed for developers and anyone curious about unconventional communication methods, it transforms standard text into dot-and-dash sequences for a playful twist on instant messaging. The app was created as a humorous project inspired by a printer joke that spiraled into a functional chat tool.

I built a Yahoo Messenger-inspired web chat app – pure nostalgia2025 · buzzed.chat · ▲66I’ve been feeling a bit nostalgic lately, so I decided to build a little web chat app inspired by Yahoo! Messenger. Right now it’s got group chat rooms. Super simple setup, no email required to register. You can create your own room or hop into one that’s already open. Room owners can customize things like backgrounds and even cursors of their room. Users can format their messages with basic markdown like bold, italics, and color texts (kind of like the old Yahoo! days). I even brought back the classic Yahoo! Messenger emoticons because… well, why not? You can try it out here:…

A website chatbot that also uses APIs2023 · chatwith.tools · ▲46Hi! "Another chatbot for your content" you may ask? Not really! Let me explain. I have realized that there's an untapped potential for ChatGPT plugins: why leave them locked up in the OpenAI store? Let's embed them on websites or share using links! Let's make chatbots ~ do stuff ~, not just talk about what they know. That's how Chatwith was born. It is a chat widget, it scrapes your website, knowledge page, notion etc - but more importantly, it also understands your API. It can interact with that API on your or your visitors' behalf. Some use cases & ideas: - Shopify bot - ask it for order…
- IHI have published a mobile HN client to have coffee chat with HN users2024 · ▲59
Hi, I have published a mobile app to have coffee chat with HN users. There was already a guy who made a website for this, but I wanted to do it in mobile to practice WebRTC(technology behind the audio chat) and have some fun. I haven't spent too much time in terms of the general functionality as a HN client but can upgrade it if there are enough users enjoying the app. You can download the apps via the links below; IOS: https://apps.apple.com/tr/app/betternews-coffee-chat/id65047... Android: As you might have known, Android requires the app to be tested in a…

Talanoa▲346Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…

I went down the rabbit hole on a side project and ended up building this: Strange Attractors(https://blog.shashanktomar.com/posts/strange-attractors). It’s built with three.js. Working on it reminded me of the little "maths for fun" exercises I used to do while learning programming in early days. Just trying things out, getting fascinated and geeky, and being surprised by the results. I spent way too much time on this, but it was extreme fun. My favorite part: someone pointed me to the Simone Attractor on Threads. It is a 2D attractor and I asked GPT to extrapolate it to…

Autism Simulator▲779Hey all, I built this. It’s not trying to capture every autistic experience (that’d be impossible). It’s based on my own lived experience as well as that of friends on the spectrum. I'm trying to give people a feel for what masking, decision fatigue, and burnout can look like day-to-day. That’s hard to explain in words, but easier to show through choices and stats. I'm not trying to "define autism". I’ve gotten good feedback here about resilience, meds, and difficulty tuning. I’ll keep tweaking it. If even a few people walk away thinking, "ah, maybe that’s why my coworker struggles in those…
