Simera

Use your Mac camera inside the iOS Simulator

What it does

Simera is a focused macOS menu bar utility that brings your Mac’s live camera into iOS Simulator apps. Enable it with one click, then test photo and video capture using the camera code you already have. It supports AVFoundation, UIImagePickerController, and common Flutter camera and image picker integrations. No SDK or project changes required. Includes a 7-day trial, a $5.99 lifetime license, and 10 free lifetime licenses for early Product Hunt testers.

Use your Mac camera inside iOS Simulator apps. Test native and Flutter camera flows without a physical device.

Simera brings your Mac camera to iOS Simulator apps, so you can build and test camera experiences without reaching for a physical device. Watch the live Mac camera feed appear in native iOS and Flutter Simulator apps. Camera testing should feel like part of development, not a reason to break away from it. Stream your built-in or connected camera straight into an iOS Simulator app with a single switch. Exercise photo and video experiences in the Simulator instead of rebuilding your workflow around sample files. Simera works at the Simulator camera boundary, so your production camera code stays production-ready. Simera lives quietly in your menu bar and connects to the Simulator you are…from simera.pages.dev

Hello HN! I found that picking out plausible but diverse skin tones for my digital art and game development projects was kind of difficult, and I got curious about if there was a way to define a color space that made it easy. I've built a color picker and procedural generation algorithm based on the space as well as a bunch of other fun js features and demos throughout the page that use the equations. If you find it interesting, I have lots of explanations of how I built it and what properties the space has. The methodology might be a bit shaky, but hopefully the result is as helpful for…

  • I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it. Happy to answer questions about the model, training, Core ML, or the many things that didn't work.
