SimGate
Hi HN, I built a small developer tool called *SimGate*. Problem: most SMS APIs (Twilio, etc.) charge per-SMS. For small projects, prototypes, or local businesses, this adds up quickly. What I made: - An Android app that connects your phone to the cloud via WebSocket. - A simple REST API where you send JSON (`deviceId`, `phoneNumber`, `message`). - Your phone sends the SMS using its own SIM plan — no extra per-SMS fees. Use cases: OTP codes, alerts, internal tools, or any project where you just need reliable SMS without provider costs. Stack: Node/Express + Websockets (backend). Demo &…

What it does
Use your own Android phone as an SMS gateway. Send SMS via simple API call from your frontend or backend - messages are sent through your phone’s SIM, not a third-party service. Simple integration and total control of your own gateway without pay-per SMS.
SimGate turns your phone into a powerful SMS gateway. Send and receive text messages through your own SIM card with a simple, private API — no pay per SMS cost.
SimGate turns any Android phone into a programmable SMS gateway. Send and receive text messages over a plain HTTP API through your own SIM — no per-message fees, no third-party provider in the middle. 1 curl -X POST https : //api.simgate.app/v1/sms/send 2 -H "x-api-key: YOUR_API_KEY" 3 -H "Content-Type: application/json" 4 -d ' { 5 "deviceId" : "android-5q15b182f2704gbz" , 6 "phoneNumber" : "+1234567890" , 7 "message" : "Hello from SimGate API!" 8 } ' Your backend → SimGate API → Your Android phone → Delivered Privacy by default The content of the SMS you send through SimGate is never stored in our databases. Your message is relayed to your phone for delivery, not archived on our side.…from simgate.app

Let agents send/receive SMS using your old Android phoneJun 2026 · simlink.snaz.cz · ▲5While playing with agents I realised it might be quite handy if they could get access to OTP codes. And while at it, why not give them ability to send the SMS as well. Twillio is expensive and annoying to set up for my taste. I vibe coded simple Android app that can read/send SMS and simple relay server that acts as MCP for agents. Works surprisingly well and my old android phone from a drawer is doing something useful again. Feel free to use it if you find it useful. I put it just to a $5 vps. If it's crashed, you should be able to spin up your own instance on your own VPS just in a…

Talanoa▲346Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…

I built the world's most impractical 1000-pixel display and anyone in the world can draw on it. It draws a single pixel at a time and takes 30-60 minutes to complete a single image. Anyone can participate in the project by voting for the next image to be drawn, and submitting images. https://kilopx.com/

Kitten TTS is an open-source series of tiny and expressive text-to-speech models for on-device applications. We are excited to launch a preview of our smallest model, which is less than 25 MB. This model has 15M parameters. This release supports English text-to-speech applications in eight voices: four male and four female. The model is quantized to int8 + fp16, and it uses onnx for runtime. The model is designed to run literally anywhere eg. raspberry pi, low-end smartphones, wearables, browsers etc. No GPU required! We're releasing this to give early users a sense of the latency and voices…

I was wondering how I can arrange objects along a spherical helix path, and read some articles on it. I ended up learning about parametric equations again, and make this visualization to document what I learned: https://visualrambling.space/moving-objects-in-3d/ feel free to visit and let me know what you think!

For HTML Day 2025 [1], I made a web service that displays the current sky at your approximate location as a CSS gradient. Colours are simulated on-demand using atmospheric absorption and scattering coefficients. Updates every minute, without the use of client-side JavaScript.
