SimpleSSM

Terminal for AWS Systems Manager

SimpleSSM launched on April 9, 2026.

What it does

Managing EC2 instances shouldn't feel like defusing a bomb. SimpleSSM is a macOS app that uses AWS Systems Manager (SSM) to give you instant terminal access to any EC2 instance - no SSH keys to manage, no ports to open, no bastion hosts to maintain. Just click, connect, and get to work. Whether you're a solo developer who hops into instances a few times a week, or a DevOps engineer managing a fleet of servers, SimpleSSM removes the friction so you can focus on the actual work.

A real terminal, live metrics, fleet-wide commands, and secure tunnels for EC2 — native on Mac, iPad, and iPhone. No SSH keys required.

Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…

  • With social media and now AI, its important to keep the indie web alive. There are many people who write frequently. Blogosphere tries to highlight them by fetching the recent posts from personal blogs across many categories. There are two versions: Minimal (HN-inspired, fast, static): https://text.blogosphere.app/ Non-minimal: https://blogosphere.app/ If you don't find your blog (or your favorite ones), please add them. I will review and approve it.
