In plain words
Singer is an open source ETL framework that standardizes how data extraction and loading scripts communicate. It uses "taps" to pull data from sources like databases and APIs, and "targets" to load data into destinations including files and queues. The modular design allows any tap to work with any target, enabling flexible data movement between different systems. Singer is designed for organizations managing multiple data sources and destinations.

From the sources
Singer powers data extraction and consolidation for all of your organization’s tools. Singer describes how data extraction scripts—called “taps” —and data loading scripts—called “targets” — should communicate, allowing them to be used in any combination to move data from any source to any destination. Send data between databases, web APIs, files, queues, and just about anything else you can think of. For example, these two simple commands pull currency exchange rate data from Exchangeratesapi.io into a CSV file: Check out the directory of taps and targets for more data sources and destinations. › pip install target-csv tap-exchangeratesapi › tap-exchangeratesapi |…from singer.io

Talanoa▲345Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…
