SkyBrief

Your entire pre-flight briefing. One screen.

What it does

There are roughly 600,000 private pilots in the US. Before every flight, they're bouncing between aviationweather.gov, notams.faa.gov, airnav.com, and a handful of other clunky government sites — each with a different interface, none of them mobile-friendly. SkyBrief pulls everything into one clean dashboard. Enter your route, hit brief, and you're done.

    I'm an airline pilot – I built interactive graphs/globes of my flights2025 · jameshard.ing · ▲1,539

Hey HN! Pilots everywhere are required to keep a logbook of all their flying hours, aircraft, airports, and so on. Since I track everything digitally (some people still just use paper logbooks!), I put together some data visualizations and a few 3D globes to show my flying history. This globe is probably my favourite so far: https://jameshard.ing/pilot/globes/all If you’ve got ideas for other graphs or ways to show this kind of data, I’d love to hear them!

    I built a real-time OSINT dashboard pulling 15 live global feedsMar 2026 · github.com · ▲312

Sup HN, So I got tired of bouncing between Flightradar, MarineTraffic, and Twitter every time something kicked off globally, so I wrote a dashboard to aggregate it all locally. It’s called Shadowbroker. I’ll admit I leaned way too hard into the "movie hacker" aesthetic for the UI, but the actual pipeline underneath is real. It pulls commercial/military ADS-B, the AIS WebSocket stream (about 25,000+ ships), N2YO satellite telemetry, and GDELT conflict data into a single MapLibre instance. Getting this to run without melting my browser was the hardest part. I'm running this on a laptop…

Today, I’m proud to announce Homebrew 6.0.0. The most significant changes since 5.1.0 are a new tap trust security mechanism, the new faster, smaller, default internal Homebrew JSON API, sandboxing on Linux, better defaults informed by our user survey, many brew bundle improvements, improved performance and initial support for macOS 27 (Golden Gate). Happy to discuss any questions here!
