Powerful Simulations & AI Notebooks - Without the Cloud
SnapThink launched on August 7, 2025 with 6 votes. The site was still online in September 2026, 1 year on.
What it does
SnapThink is a local-first AI notebook to run LLMs offline, analyze files with RAG, plot data, run sandboxed Python code, and simulate robotics — all on your machine. No cloud. No telemetry. Just fast, private AI that stays entirely in your control.
Platform for LLMs
Natural language to working simulation in seconds. Plus intelligent analytics for predictive maintenance. Powered by AI. Designed for robotics. We've experienced the pain firsthand: countless hours wasted on tool setup, environment configuration, and manual iteration between code and simulation. The steep learning curve and fragmented toolchain creates a nightmare for knowledge transfer and auditing. One platform that unifies natural language commands, instant simulation, and seamless iteration. From prototype to production, without the complexity. Watch how natural language commands transform into working robot simulations AND intelligent predictive maintenance analytics. From simple robot…from snapthinkllm.com

Axis OneNov 2025 · axis-one-psi.vercel.app · ▲78I’ve been building a small hardware box that runs local LLMs like Mistral, Qwen and Llama, and exposes an OpenAI compatible API on your local network. There’s no cloud, no login system and no telemetry. I built it because a lot of small firms want ChatGPTbstyle tools but can’t use cloud AI for privacy or compliance reasons, and most don’t want to deal with GPU servers, drivers, Docker or model configs. The aim is to make local AI feel as simple as plugging in a router. Right now the box boots into a very simple web UI where you choose a model and start using it. The API follows the OpenAI…

Hello Hacker News! We're Yangqing, Xiang and JJ from lepton.ai. We are building a platform to run any AI models as easy as writing local code, and to get your favorite models in minutes. It's like container for AI, but without the hassle of actually building a docker image. We built and contributed to some of the world's most popular AI software - PyTorch 1.0, ONNX, Caffe, etcd, Kubernetes, etc. We also managed hundreds of thousands of computers in our previous jobs. And we found that the AI software stack is usually unnecessarily complex - and we want to change that. Imagine if you are a…
Local text, image, video, music and 3D from one CLI, no PythonJul 2026 · github.com · ▲16Hi HN! I'm the author of mere.run a local first inference runtime built around an installable CLI. I believe that whenever possible we should use the stuff we already own (like our Mac laptops, decent machines gathering dust, our gaming PC) and the limited electrical power we have easy access to, like the socket in the wall next to most of us. We shouldn't have to send our data to the cloud hoping some T&C will prevent it from being used in a way that we'd regret. Most of the local AI solutions are technical, involved, and land a curious body in some package hell. People are optimizing for…

I built the world's most impractical 1000-pixel display and anyone in the world can draw on it. It draws a single pixel at a time and takes 30-60 minutes to complete a single image. Anyone can participate in the project by voting for the next image to be drawn, and submitting images. https://kilopx.com/

Kitten TTS is an open-source series of tiny and expressive text-to-speech models for on-device applications. We are excited to launch a preview of our smallest model, which is less than 25 MB. This model has 15M parameters. This release supports English text-to-speech applications in eight voices: four male and four female. The model is quantized to int8 + fp16, and it uses onnx for runtime. The model is designed to run literally anywhere eg. raspberry pi, low-end smartphones, wearables, browsers etc. No GPU required! We're releasing this to give early users a sense of the latency and voices…

I was wondering how I can arrange objects along a spherical helix path, and read some articles on it. I ended up learning about parametric equations again, and make this visualization to document what I learned: https://visualrambling.space/moving-objects-in-3d/ feel free to visit and let me know what you think!

For HTML Day 2025 [1], I made a web service that displays the current sky at your approximate location as a CSS gradient. Colours are simulated on-demand using atmospheric absorption and scattering coefficients. Updates every minute, without the use of client-side JavaScript.
