Splunk Developer Platform (what I've been working on)
Hey HN, I wanted to share with you what I've been working on for the past few months – the Splunk Developer Platform[1]. We released our Python SDK[2] back in August, but just last week we released our Java[3] and JavaScript[4] ones, and the JS SDK was the one I've been working on. It was a great learning experience for me – first real foray into JavaScript and Node (the SDK works in both the browser and Node), and was a lot of fun to try different things out releasing it. I ended up building on a couple of open source libraries (and contributing back). We are building out Splunk's developer…
What it does
In the maker’s words, at launch
Hey HN, I wanted to share with you what I've been working on for the past few months – the Splunk Developer Platform[1]. We released our Python SDK[2] back in August, but just last week we released our Java[3] and JavaScript[4] ones, and the JS SDK was the one I've been working on. It was a great learning experience for me – first real foray into JavaScript and Node (the SDK works in both the browser and Node), and was a lot of fun to try different things out releasing it. I ended up building on a couple of open source libraries (and contributing back). We are building out Splunk's developer platform and do a lot of work with social data like Twitter, Foursquare and GitHub, as well as try and come up with new ideas about how to use Splunk. If anyone has any questions or wants to try Splunk out, just let me know (contact info is in my profile). Hi guys, I've created an open source web builder framework (https://grapesjs.com) years ago, which I'm still maintaining, and now I'm excited to publish a side project based on it, Grapedrop (https://grapedrop.com). It's a simple web page builder which allows you to design and publish your web pages very quickly. The project is still in beta with a lot of stuff to improve but I'd really like to share it and hear what people think about it and maybe also get some constructive feedback.
- MAmade a html5 game, polished it many many times2011 · hotbazooka.com · ▲211
hi all, I've always wanted to make my own game, but couldn't afford a thousand-dollar adobe (flash+photoshop) license. I'm not a talented programmer, have no degree in CS. But I understand some elements of design. So I got me a copy of ImpactJS, and after about 5 months of steep learning curve (at least for me), I managed to come up with a game. I also integrated it with a highscore and badge system, similar to what you get at Kongregate. You need to login with Google/OpenID to earn badges/scores. link is: http://www.hotbazooka.com/privatejoe hope to hear some feedback/questions from you guys!
- PPPractical Python Projects book release2021 · practicalpython.yasoob.me · ▲88
Hi everyone! I just released the Practical Python Projects book! (https://practicalpython.yasoob.me) I am happy to announce the first version as a release candidate. I have poured a lot of love into writing this book and would love to hear what you guys think. (A limited 100% off and discount coupons at the end) This is not a pure beginner book. The book does assume some background Python knowledge. You need to know the basics like methods, functions, classes, and such. If I use something that is not typically covered in beginner Python books, I will explain it before I use it.…
- ILI launched my DevOps PostgreSQL platform today2024 · batteriesincl.com · ▲9
My name is Elliott. For the last three years, I’ve been building a DevOps platform on the best-in-class open source platforms (Kubernetes, Elixir, PostgreSQL, Grafana, etc.). The goal is to give engineering teams access to a modern DevOps infrastructure without needing to have a full SRE/DevOps team dedicated. It’s also open source /fair source - all the source code is here → https://github.com/batteries-included/batteries-included I shipped a public beta today and would love to hear initial reactions, thoughts, and feedback. Here are details of the platform: *…
- AJAPI Jobs, a new job site focused on APIs2012 · ▲37
In my spare time to remind myself that I could actually build stuff (and learn some Python, Flask, Redis, etc) I put together a simple job board to feature the best jobs in the API industry. The jobs can be either building APIs at companies like Twilio, Box, Stripe, etc. or integrating them. In addition to featuring those jobs, I'm also aggregating API jobs from GitHub Jobs, Stack Overflow Careers 2.0, and 37signals Job Board. Today I launched with what I would consider an 'MVP' with jobs from SendGrid, TokBox, Twilio, Zencoder, Parse, Stripe, Pusher and Box. Check it out, I'd love to know…
- MWmy weekend project, a "framework" for IRC apps/bots2011 · ▲24
This is a little project I've been working on for a while in order to better learn Python. Although IRC may not exactly be the most exciting medium, I still find it to be fun and useful, this interest lead me to writing a bot. In doing this I realized that what would actually be more interesting would be if I had a framework. There may already be such a thing, certainly there are IRC libraries, but I don't know if they're well-suited to deploying bots. At any rate if for no other reason than the fact that I am relatively new to programming and eager to learn I decided to build a framework.…
