StackBlitz

Online VS Code IDE for Angular & React.

StackBlitz launched on August 4, 2017 with 14 votes, #866 of 3,214 launches that month and more than 50% of that year's launches. The site was still online in September 2026, 9 years on.

What it does

StackBlitz is the collaborative browser-based IDE for web developers. StackBlitz eliminates time-consuming local configuration and lets developers spend more time building.

Turn text into working web apps. Bolt handles the code while you focus on your vision, letting you create and launch applications directly from your browser. Bolt is powered by WebContainers, the first WebAssembly-based micro operating system which boots entire development environments in milliseconds, securely within your browser tab. Legacy cloud-based IDEs run on remote servers and stream the results back to your browser. This approach yields few security benefits and provides a worse experience than your local machine in nearly every way. With StackBlitz, all compute occurs inside your browser , making use of decades of speed and securityfrom stackblitz.com

I made this because building UIs in a lexical medium like code is super annoying. I have to pre-render what I’m making in my head, and then jump between the browser and IDE to test. I was inspired by the developer console in chrome and safari since I end up editing css there because it’s ironically more convenient. Hope it’s useful!

Hi all! Here is my open-source side-project. It is a browser extension that lets you click on a component on your localhost to get to its code in your editor. It works with React, Svelte, SolidJS, Preact, and Vue components and with VSCode, Webstorm, or any other editor that supports URL protocol links. It can be used also as JavaScript library (instead of installing browser extension) It speeds up my web development so much that I can't work without that anymore :D Let me know if you like it or if you would like to improve it somehow. Contributions are welcomed…

Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…
