Stacktower

XKCD-inspired dependency analysis for your GitHub repo

What it does

Stacktower turns any repo into the dependency tower from XKCD #2347 — then finds the blocks about to crumble. Vuln & health checks, tower diffs on PRs, README embeds, and an AI agent that audits your dependencies and tells you what to fix. OSS CLI included.

Xkcd #2347 lived in my head, so I built the dependency tower for realDec 2025 · stacktower.io · ▲36

I finally got tired of XKCD #2347 living rent-free in my head, so I built Stacktower: a tool that takes any real package’s dependency graph and turns it into an actual tower of bricks. Along the way I had to wrestle some surprisingly spicy problems. Full blog post here: https://stacktower.io The result is half visualization tool, half love letter to the chaos of modern dependency trees. Open-source, works with PyPI, Cargo, npm, and more. Vdm, a sane alternative to e.g. Git submodules2024 · github.com · ▲100

Hey folks! I've been working on something on & (mostly) off for a little over a year, and picked it back up recently because of yet another related frustration at work. I've spent a lot of time ripping out git submodules from repos my teams use, but I've spent an equally large amount of time wondering why there doesn't seem to be a better option for managing arbitrary dependencies across repos in the Year of Our Lord 2024. So, I put together a really early version of such an arbitrary-dependency manager. It's called vdm, and you can find it in the linked URL above & below. I'm sharing mostly…

Today, I’m proud to announce Homebrew 6.0.0. The most significant changes since 5.1.0 are a new tap trust security mechanism, the new faster, smaller, default internal Homebrew JSON API, sandboxing on Linux, better defaults informed by our user survey, many brew bundle improvements, improved performance and initial support for macOS 27 (Golden Gate). Happy to discuss any questions here!
