StarRate

Lightroom-style photo rating and culling for Nextcloud

What it does

StarRate brings the photo culling workflow you know from Lightroom to your self-hosted Nextcloud — star ratings (1-5), color labels, and a full-screen loupe view, all without leaving your own server. Share a guest link with clients or models so they can rate photos directly in the browser — no Nextcloud account needed. Ratings are written to JPEG/XMP metadata, fully compatible with Lightroom and other DAM tools. Free and open source (AGPL-3.0). Available now on the Nextcloud App Store.

I'm working on a pure js webgl image editor with effects, filters, crop & perspective correction, etc. My goal is to give the community an opensource solution as unfortunately most comparable apps are closed sources. https://mini2-photo-editor.netlify.app to try it out (https://github.com/xdadda/mini-photo-editor)

CLI that spots fake GitHub stars, risky dependencies and licence traps2025 · github.com · ▲122

When I came across a study that traced 4.5 million fake GitHub stars, it confirmed a suspicion I’d had for a while: stars are noisy. The issue is they’re visible, they’re persuasive, and they still shape hiring decisions, VC term sheets, and dependency choices—but they say very little about actual quality. I wrote StarGuard to put that number in perspective based on my own methodology inspired with what they did and to fold a broader supply-chain check into one command-line run. It starts with the simplest raw input: every starred_at timestamp GitHub will give. It applies a…

With social media and now AI, its important to keep the indie web alive. There are many people who write frequently. Blogosphere tries to highlight them by fetching the recent posts from personal blogs across many categories. There are two versions: Minimal (HN-inspired, fast, static): https://text.blogosphere.app/ Non-minimal: https://blogosphere.app/ If you don't find your blog (or your favorite ones), please add them. I will review and approve it.
